Since this  was my first time in Craiova, I wanted to try and visit a few restaurants, cafes etc.. unfortunately I didnt manage this time but I will again soon on my next visit.

One of the places I heard was good was Mythos, and today I visited to see what it was like.

Today was a very nice sunny day, so we sat outside to enjoy the weather.

Both outside and inside of the restaurant looked very nice, and spotlessly clean. The staff were all very pleasant, and very helpful and spoke English which helped me….but I did order a beer in Romanian so I did well today 🙂

The Food…

Pizza Carbonarra 22 LEI

img_2072

So this sounded an interesting option, I like the pasta Carbonarra so I thought lets see what the pizza is like.

On arrival it looked OK, and smelled nice.

This was a big disappointment, there wasn’t much flavour from this. It was cooked fine, but it was lacking in flavour which made it very boring to eat.

Would I order this again? no..

I did try some of my girlfriends pizza, and this did have flavour again but not as much as I would have liked so I am glad I didn’t order that one.

Overall

I was very disappointed with my pizza, so much so I don’t think I visit here again as it was just lacking in flavour.

Babs (Glasgow) Pre Launch Bloggers Event : Review

V: 14 June 2017      T:  0141 248 2240    W: babs.co.uk

Child Friendly: Yes (well behaved kids)      Accepts: Cash & Card

I had been hearing a lot of bloggers talk about Babs for a while, and have passed its location a few times waiting for it to open. For the past month or two I hadn’t heard anything, until my Twitter inbox went DING and I saw an invite to tonight’s event.

Think Greek, Turkish and mediterranean food all fused together and you have Babs.

Babs tag line is “Kebabs. Done right” so it would be interesting to see if the tag line is correct.

First Impressions :

This is a classic but modern Mediterranean look inside, and has been well thought out.

On entering you have a nice seating area that is all level and has a disabled toilet so this is a nice touch. You then move up some stairs to a separate seating area, which has tables or booths depending on what you prefer.

The Food…

Selection of Breads with Oil & Vinegar

I am not a big bread and oil fan, to be honest I just don’t get it but I know a lot people like doing this….I just took the bread on its own.

The bread was very nice and very light to eat.

Along with the bread we also got…

Hummus and Ajvar

Ajvar is something you don’t really find in the UK, its roasted peppers, garlic and aubergines.

This was creamy and very good, and worked very nice with the breads for me. The hummus was ok for me, not really to my taste but Hummus is always a little bland for me where ever I go.

Aranchini

IMG_8598

Aranchini are stuffed rice balls which are coated with bread crumbs and then deep fried. Tonights Aranchini were stuffed with feta cheese and spinach. These were one my main favourites tonight, I could have easily had more and more of these.

Chicken Souvlaki

IMG_8601

This consisted of chicken thigh, grilled tomatoes, red onion puree and tzatzaki

I am not a tomato fan so pushing that aside, the whole combination was mega mega tasty. The chicken was nice and tender with a slight BBQ taste, and the rest all just made this one really tasty dish.

Skinny fries with bacon and sauce

IMG_8605

These were very skinny fries, but that’s how I like my fries.

The sauce that was used what ever it was was really good, and worked amazing with the fries.

Cant wait to have more of these fries mmmmmmmm

Next we were served..

Watermelon and Feta Salad

This was to cleanse our palates.

I am not a watermelon fan but I did try it, for me well so so but I am sure if you like watermelon you will enjoy this dish.

Next up was the burger, now this was going to be interesting as Bread Meats Bread is sister restaurant to Babs so if this was bad then not good.

The Burger was medium cooked, moist, no overpowering flavours and this is what surprised me it was very light. I didn’t feel very full after it even though it looked very filling, so I could have easily had another one.

Is this better than Bread Meats Bread burgers? to be honest I can’t actually say as I have still to try more burgers there so till then I will leave it as on par

To finish up…

Tiramisu

IMG_8633

Tiramisu is my favourite Italian dessert, the taste texture everything about it I love.

This was so so, it was nice but it didn’t do it for me. If I was to pin point something I would say maybe lacking in the normal Tiramisu flavour

Overall :

I really enjoyed tonight, the atmosphere and food were all very good and I felt very relaxed.

I had a look at the menu and I was pleasantly surprised at the prices, its about average on other restaurants of this style.

I would like to thank Babs for the invite and the lovely food, also pass a thanks also on to the staff and the chefs.

I will be going back at a later date to try more dishes, as I spotted a few on the menu tonight that I would like to try.

Mezze (Glasgow) 2nd Visit : Review

Cuisine: Mediterranean

Visit Date : 17th March 2017

So the previous bloggers night, I decided to book for tonight as I was seeing a show at the SECC and I liked the food so it was a win win situation.

Tonight I arrived and were seated in the same seats as last nights blogger event, so another evening with a nice view. Again just like last night, the atmosphere was very relaxing and I was looking forward to trying some there dishes Mezze has to offer.

Starter :

Lamb Keftedes £5.40
meatballs – tomato sauce

IMG_6203

I never had this at the blogger event, so night I wanted to order different dishes so I could see if the others were just as nice as last nights.

This was a nice portion, though I am not sure if this was for two or just for one as we ordered two and only got the one dish. If this was for one, then it was very good value for money.

The flavour was nice, the meatballs were nice on their own but adding the sauce helped bring out the flavour.

Main :

Calamari with Tarator Dip £5.90

IMG_6205

I love Calamari and get very disappointed by a restaurant if they don’t do it right, some places are nice but the taste is bland where others its too chewy but they have the taste.

On arrival I liked the presentation, it looked very nice and appealing to the eyes.

To taste, this was very nice. The calamari was not chewy and the batter was perfect, the dip added to the flavour very nicely and I really enjoyed this.

Overall :

I did order a sweet, but what it arrived I noticed it contained nuts. The menu description didn’t mention this which was a shame as if did I would have ordered something else.

This day and age with some many allergies I think it would have been better to mention this, even if the waitress or waiter that night asked “are you ok with nuts as it contains it”.
