1837 Bar & Brasserie at Guinness Storehouse

Visit & Vibes

Today I was going around the Guinness Storehouse doing the self-guided tour, and after a few drinks, I needed some food.

I spotted a few places, but this one looked like they had a few tables available as it was VERY busy today.

On entering this place was very nice, and we were seated next to a window which was great as we had a table with a great view over the city.

The Food

I wanted something big for my lunch and decided on these.

Guinness BBQ sticky hot wings €9.00
Kearney’s blue cheese dip

On arrival this looked very good, and a good-sized portion.

I took a bite and oh ok, the chicken was nice and tender and there was an ok amount of meat to it but the flavour hmm it was nice but I didn’t really get any BBQ flavour just a hint of honey and that was it.

The dip was amazing! I just love blue cheese and this was so good!

Overall it was an ok starter.

Double Guinness Cheeseburger €19
Crispy bacon, pickle, cheese, brioche bun, house fries

On arrival, this was BIG and looked very very very tasty!

I will be honest, I didn’t expect it to be a good burger but just an ok burger! I was very wrong!

I started with the fries and these were perfectly cooked, had a lovely crispness to them and were perfectly salted…this was off to a good start.

I then took a BIG bite of the burger and wow! the patties were lovely and juicy, the flavours of everything together were really good and I loved every bite.

This was a really good double cheeseburger, and it was much better than I thought here would do.

I was so full after this, but I would easily have this again when I revisit.

I can’t do half marks on my star rating but I would give this a 4.5 if I could.

Baileys Coffee €7
Baileys, espresso, milk, chocolate

No room for a dessert after that massive double cheeseburger, but room for a wee coffee.

Just as you would expect, it was lovely and warm with a nice baileys flavour to start with rounding off with a subtle coffee end.

This was a perfect end to a very good meal.

Final Thoughts…

Totally not expected it, as I expected more tourist-quick food but was very pleasantly surprised.

My starter today was just ok, but the burger wow so good and one I look forward to having again.

If you book tickets to do the tour, book online to reserve a table as it is a VERY busy place!

Gallaghers Boxty House (Dublin) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

I decided to take a flight to Dublin just for the day, check out the sights and just see what happens before heading home later that day.

After landing while I was standing looking out at O’Connell Bridge, I remembered the name Boxty and that Philip Rosenthal (Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix) visited somewhere near and it had Boxty in the name.

I did a quick check and yes it was just around the corner from me so I thought, let’s go around get some breakfast and see if I can try a boxty.

On entering we were shown to our table, and I had a wee look around. This was very nice, it had a nice atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Food

So I knew I wanted to try a boxty so it didn’t matter if it was on its own or with something and I spotted this…

Full Irish Breakfast €15
Traditional Irish Breakfast with Sausage, Irish Bacon, Mushroom, Baked Tomato, Black Pudding, Fried Eggs, and Boxty Pancake…

I asked for the tomato and mushroom to not be included and if possible to substitute them for another boxty and they said sure.

On arrival, this looked very good and had a great aroma, and I could see two Boxtys so I couldn’t wait to try them first and see what they were like.

So let’s start with the Boxty, the best way I can describe it is a potato pancake that’s not as fluffy and is a little sweeter.

I actually enjoyed it and I am glad I managed to get two, as they were gone right away.

Everything was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed every bite! the Boxty and the sausage were the standout foods here for me…both sooooo good!!!!

Pink Lemonade €5

Along with my breakfast, I wanted something fizzy to start with before I go to the Guinness Storehouse and get lots of Guinness.

I spotted this and thought let’s give it a go, as I normally only ever have normal lemonade.

This was a perfect starter drink for the day, it was light, had really good flavour and worked very well with my breakfast.

Final Thoughts…

I had a great visit here today, it was a great start to my day and the breakfast was very good.

I enjoyed trying my first boxty and would easily come back here again when I visit Dublin again.

I have no issues with anything from today’s visit, so I am adding it to my top spots page.
