I fancied a wee drive and this was the first place that came to mind, I wanted to see if they had gotten any new goodies inside for sale…plus to try something else on their menu.

The Food
Smiddy Burger & Chips £13.95 Two delicious mince beef patties, topped with Applewood smoked cheddar, bacon, tomato, gherkin, and Smiddy relish. Served on a toasted brioche bun with a salad garnish and chips.
First and foremost, the portion size of the meal was more than generous; it was downright impressive. My lunchtime journey began with the accompanying chips, and I was delighted to discover that they were cooked to perfection. What’s more, they were seasoned just right, requiring no additional salt to enhance their flavour.
With a hearty appetite, I took my first two substantial bites of the burger, and I was immediately struck by the harmonious blend of flavours. The rich relish, the smoky cheddar cheese, the crispy bacon, and, of course, the succulent beef patties all worked in perfect synergy to create a taste sensation that left me craving more.
Despite the substantial meal I had enjoyed, I didn’t feel uncomfortably stuffed or ready to burst. Instead, I experienced a satisfying fullness that left me content and thoroughly pleased with my dining choice.
In hindsight, I was genuinely delighted to have tried this culinary masterpiece. It stands as a testament to the establishment’s commitment to delivering not only quantity but also quality.
For anyone seeking a memorable dining experience, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this remarkable burger a try – it’s a delectable dish that won’t disappoint.

The above blog post review is 100% honest and has not been influenced in anyway. Its a true representation of my visit, and my thoughts.
We have been working on perfecting our dough for almost a year now and would love for more people to know about us. A little bit about the concept below:
Piadinas are typical from the region of Emilia Romagna on the northeast coast of Italy. I personally grew up in Northern Italy in a small town called Voghera, but I learned to make piadinas by hand when I lived in Riccione (a long time ago now 😌)
We use a simple recipe and make the dough daily using extra virgin olive oil so it’s always light and vegan-friendly. The fillings are mostly traditional, but we have introduced a few special ones like the Weegie (with chicken), and some of the vegan ones are combinations that I created.
Visit & Vibes
I had the pleasure of being invited to Piada in Glasgow recently, and from the moment I arrived, it was evident that I was in for a lovely lunch experience.
The interior exudes charm, boasting a delightful blend of modernity, brightness, and impeccable cleanliness. As luck would have it, the day was bathed in nice sunshine, prompting me to choose a window seat where I could relish my meal while indulging in some people-watching.
Piada’s ambience not only set the stage for a delightful dining experience but also allowed me to savour my lunch while basking in the warm glow of the sun.

The Food
La Romagna (n/a today normally £8.90) Italian sausage, potatoes, smoked scamorza & truffle mayo
As I perused the enticing menu, it quickly became apparent that choosing just one dish would be my mission for this lunchtime adventure. Amidst a tempting array of options, my culinary compass led me to the La Romagna, an enchanting creation adorned with Italian sausage, perfectly roasted potatoes, and a generous drizzle of truffle-infused mayonnaise. The mere mention of truffle mayonnaise and Italian sausage had already set my taste buds aflutter with anticipation.
When the plate arrived at my table, it was a visual delight, and I couldn’t wait to dig right in.
What followed was nothing short of a mega tasty lunchtime dish. You could taste each ingredient individually and they all combined very very well creating a very tasty and morish bite.
The dish’s sheer deliciousness made it disappear from my plate with remarkable ease. For anyone who revels in the allure of Italian sausage, I wholeheartedly recommend this masterpiece.
La Romagna is one that you won’t want to miss.

It’s important to note that all the views and opinions expressed in my blog posts and vlogs are entirely personal, have not been influenced in any way and reflect my individual perspective. The awesome folks over at Slouch gave me the invite to swing by and dive into their brand-new menu. You see, I’d been here once before, had a peek at their offerings back then, and trust me, it was already top-notch. So, you can imagine my excitement for this return visit.
When I strolled through the door, I immediately noticed that they’ve revamped the joint, and let me tell you, it’s taken a major turn for the better.
Seriously, the interior upgrades were so much better. Nicer lighting, and way more tables and chairs – they’ve really stepped up their game. And guess what? If you’re ever in the mood to host a cosy gathering, they’ve got this neat little private area that can comfortably accommodate around 20 or so guests. Just give the guys a quick shout to double-check the details.

The Food
I had no clue where to start as a lot of this menu sounded so so good, so I asked for some suggestions and these suggestions were 100% spot on!!!
Camembert haggis bon bons £8 Drambuie glaze
Now, let’s talk about the initial experience – these bon bons were piping hot, like fresh out of the fryer hot. I had to exercise a bit of patience as I waited for them to cool down to a manageable temperature. But once they did, oh boy, it was an explosion of flavours that took me by surprise in the best way possible.
The glaze drizzled over the haggis was an absolute game-changer. It elevated the haggis to a whole new level, infusing it with a delightful sweetness that played in perfect harmony with the savoury notes. Admittedly, the Camembert wasn’t the star of the show, but its subtle presence added a creamy touch to the dish that complemented the haggis beautifully.
I have to say, I could have easily devoured another round of these Haggis Bon Bons without a second thought.

Bacon & black pudding croquette £6 tomato chutney
My culinary journey at Slouch continued with a plate of their Bacon and Black Pudding Croquettes. As they graced my table, their presentation was decent, but my excitement was more about their taste than their looks.
Without wasting a moment, I delved right in, and let me tell you, these croquettes were a flavour revelation. The combination of bacon and black pudding was a taste bud delight, an explosion of savoury goodness that left me wanting more. What truly impressed me was the impeccable crispness of the coating; it provided the perfect textural contrast to the rich, flavorful filling.
Yet again, I found myself in a situation where I simply couldn’t find any faults. The addition of tomato chutney alongside the black pudding and bacon was a great addition. It acted as a zesty companion that elevated the dish to a whole new level, enhancing every bite with a delightful tanginess.
These Bacon and Black Pudding Croquettes are undeniably another winner on Slouch’s menu.
Returning to Slouch, I found myself at a crossroads between revisiting a trusty chicken burger I’d enjoyed before or embarking on a new adventure with their homemade beef burger. Tonight, my appetite and curiosity got the best of me, leading me down the beefy path.
When it arrived at my table, it was nothing short of impressive. But, before I could tackle the main attraction, I decided to pay my respects to the chunky hand-cut chips. They were an absolute delight, boasting a remarkable taste and a flawless level of crispiness.
With my palate warmed up, it was time to take on the burger. As I took that first monumental bite, I was met with a symphony of flavours that danced across my taste buds. However, there was an intriguing twist in this burger’s tale that kept me guessing. A subtle hint of paprika made itself known, adding a unique dimension to the overall taste profile. The combination of this unexpected ingredient, the zesty mustard mayo, and the other carefully selected components created a harmonious burger experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Now, here’s the scoop – if you’re not particularly fond of paprika, I’d recommend sticking to their chicken burger. But, if you’re like me and relish the fusion of burger brilliance with a dash of paprika intrigue, then this beef burger will undoubtedly be a winner in your book.

Monkfish scampi, £8 lime-pickle
One of the standout recommendations that piqued my culinary curiosity was the Monkfish Scampi.
Monkfish scampi isn’t something you come across every day, so my anticipation for this dish was palpable. When it finally graced my table, I was immediately captivated by its presentation, and my eyes fixated on the intriguing lime pickle that accompanied it. How would this zesty addition complement the scampi?
Without hesitation, I ventured to taste the lime pickle on its own and to put it simply, it was a revelation. This was not just good; it was extraordinary. The burst of flavour was nothing short of amazing. The scampi, in all its crispy-coated glory, was a masterpiece in itself. The coating achieved the perfect level of crispness, enhancing the overall experience.
Then came the moment of truth – combining the lime pickle with the monkfish scampi. The result? Pure magic. The marriage of the zesty lime and the tender monkfish scampi was a symphony of flavours that worked beautifully. As the last bite vanished, a subtle hint of the pickle lingered, leaving a delightful aftertaste that kept me wanting more.
In a word, this dish was sensational. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an extraordinary culinary adventure. Don’t miss the chance to savour this Monkfish Scampi – it’s a flavour-packed journey you won’t want to end and have you ordering more

Buckfast ox cheek bourguignon £8
One of the culinary gems that had been highly recommended to me was the Buckfast Ox Cheek, a dish that instantly piqued my interest. Ox cheek isn’t typically on my menu, but I firmly believe in exploring new flavours, even if it’s just a single, adventurous bite.
When it finally arrived at my table, I was immediately captivated by its intriguing presentation, but what truly stole the show was the intoxicating aroma that wafted through the air. It was tantalizing, promising an exceptional experience ahead.
As I attempted to transfer one of the ox cheek pieces onto my plate, I was met with sheer amazement. The meat was impeccably cooked, so tender that it practically melted upon touch. It was a testament to the culinary mastery of the chefs in the kitchen, who had executed this dish with absolute perfection.
Every aspect of this dish was a symphony of flavours – the tantalizing aroma, the impeccable tenderness, and the exquisite taste. I’m pleased to report that there wasn’t a single flaw to be found.
This Buckfast Ox Cheek deserves nothing less than a resounding 5 out of 5. It’s a culinary masterpiece that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for an extraordinary dining experience. Do yourself a favour and make it a point to savour this dish – you won’t regret it.
