Lychee Oriental (Glasgow) 2022 : Review

Todays Visit

It had been ages since I have visited here, and today I was going to the cinema with a friend and suggested we eat here.

Anytime I get asked what the best Chinese restaurant in Glasgow is, here is always the one that instantly comes to mind.

The Food

Crispy Duck Rolls £6.50

Apologies for the poor photos, my phone isn’t good in darker light but you should get a good idea of what they are like.

If I have ordered these it was many moons ago, and I felt like trying something different and this jumped out at me.

On arrival, these looked very nice and sealed very good.

I tried it on its own and the flavour of the duck was very nice, then I tried it with the dip and wow this transported it to another level.

I was a little disappointed that I had finished it but, I will be getting this dish again!!

Highly recommended if you’re a duck fan.

Crispy Shredded Sweet n Chilli Chicken £14.50 + Egg Fried Rice £3.50

I know that Jimmy would probably laugh at me tonight, as the main dish is what I always order….but it’s just so good!

Yes I know I had this MANY times in the past, but it’s my favourite dish when I am here.

The flavours and the presentation are all just so good.

The chicken is always very tender, the flavour has a great mix of sweet and sour and combined with the rice or on its own, it tastes really good.

Another highly recommended dish!

Visit Overall

Just like all my previous visits, tonight’s visit was very good.

I was very happy to see how busy it was, but Lychee has always been busy and this is a good sign.

Jimmy even popped out to see me which was a really nice surprise as it had been a while since we last met 🙂

This place is among my top restaurants to visit, if you haven’t checked it out make sure you book and I promise you that you won’t be disappointed.

Kathmandu Fusion (East Kilbride, Glasgow) 2022 : Review

Todays Visit

Today I took a drive to Stranraer and on the way back needed a place to eat, my friend Chris who was with me suggested this place and I set the satnav and off we went.

The Food

I had no idea what to order tonight, so I just randomly choose my dishes.

Chicken Satay £5.50
Chicken Tikka Tossed With Onion, Peppers & Chef’s Special Sauce

So like me, your first thought is, this dish is red not a brown colour…yip but that’s how they do it here.

I learned tonight that Satay means meat served with a sauce, not like the peanut sauce we are all used to here when we see satay.

The chicken was very tender, and the sauce was very nice. The flavour of the sauce was slightly sweet, rich, peppery and very nice.

I really enjoyed this dish, even though it did confuse me at the start.

Chicken Biriyani £9.95
A Delicious Combination Of Rice With Meat / Vegetables Served With Raita & Biryani Sauce

I recently had a Biriyani and enjoyed it, so I had to try one here and see how here does it.

On arrival this smelled nice, then I saw the red sauce? ok, this was different to the normal style of Biriyai’s I have seen or had.

I started with the rice, which was very nice and had nice flavours, I then tried the sauce and it was nicely rich and creamy with a little kick to it.

I tried them both together and the sauce overpowered the Biriyani, which is a shame as I hoped it would have worked well together.

Mango Lassi £2.95

As you probably already know I love a mango Lassi and try to have one when I go to any place that does them.

So how does here do them? I had to order and find out.

This looked good, and now it was time to taste.

This was a very nice Mango Lassi, and I enjoyed every sip. I would have got a second one but I was very full so maybe on my next visit.

Visit Overall

Tonight’s visit was an interesting one, it started with confusion then moved to just ok and ended on a Lassi.

Flavour-wise all dishes were nice but just ok, I wasn’t blown away or instantly thought I would have it again…well apart from the Mango Lassi.

Have you been here? or had takeaway? let me know your thoughts.

Asian Fusion Takeaway via FoodHub (Cambuslang, Glasgow): Review

The Delivery

I was recently sent a voucher from FoodHub along with their summer promo, so it was time to use my voucher and order my dinner tonight.

Sesame Prawn Toast

I have not had prawn toast for ages, as I have been good and tried to only order mains recently.

Tonight I decided to be a pig and order anything I wanted.

This just like the previous times i’ve ordered from Asian Fusion is always very nice, the flavour is good and the texture.

Not one slice was left 🙂

Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings

Another starter I have not had in ages is chicken wings, and I love a good wing.

I opted for salt and pepper as my main was spicy, so thought I would balance it out and start this way.

These were perfectly cooked, the meat slide of the bone and had a lovely flavour.

Another starter where there was nothing left 🙂

Crispy Spring Rolls (x3)

Wow these were huge!!!

These were nice, but I think something smaller would have been better.

Flavour wise just ok, they needed a nice soya dip to give them a better flavour…but thats a personal thing.

Chicken Crispy Shredded Sweet Chilli

This is my normal dish from a Chinese takeaway, and its been ages since I tried it from Asian Fusion so I thought lets see if its still as good.

This looked good, and smelled really good and I couldn’t wait to dig in.

The chicken was tender, it had a good kick to it, and the flavours as a whole were amazing.

I highly recommend either the chilli or the normal one.
