Beefeater Grill – The Castle (Newton Mearns) 2021 : Review

The Visit

While my mum and gran were off shopping in Silverburn my grandpa wanted to come here and eat, so we dropped them off and headed here.

I was here many many years ago, and enjoyed the meal then so I was looking forward to tonight.

Though this time round on arrival while we were standing at the table trying to help my grandpa from his wheelchair to the seat, we were asked what drinks we would like….surely waiting till we sat would be more professional?

This pattern seemed to happen for all the tables around us, before anyone sat down or even close to their table they were asked what to drink….personally I think its a bit soon…let people sit and then ask.

The Food

I decided to go for something light, as I wasn’t too hungry tonight.

Crispy Chicken Wings x5 (Starter) £5.99
Five tender chicken wings serviced with a choice of Piri Piri or sticky BBQ sauce.

This was a good sized portion for me, and they looked nice.

Time to taste.

Oh, ok so firstly the chicken was cooked perfectly as it came of the bone very easily.

Flavour of the coating was nothing, and I am glad it came with a sauce as it was very bland without it.

My Rating :

Rating: 1 out of 5.

Triple Cooked Chips £3.29

These were probably the best part of the meal to be honest.

Nice flavour and texture and the crunch was perfect.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Overall :

Sorry guys but the service with regards to letting us sit down first befre asking for drinks I personally didnt think was good.

The wings were very bland, and 100% needed sauce which should be an addition to the flavour.

My dad and grandfather also said their food was extremely bland…..and that’s before I commented about mine.

Tonight for me was not great, sorry guys but it could have been an off night for them? or something but please dont let this stop you going and trying them.

Strathaven Hotel Birthday Dinner 2021 : Review

The Visit

Tonight we had booked here for an early 90th birthday dinner for my grandpa, we have been here many times before and really enjoy it here.

The Food

Crispy Brie Wedges £8
onion chutney

I normally stick with the same starter but tonight I thought lets try something different.

This was very nice, the light crunch of the batter and the flavour of it all mixed with the chutney was perfect.

It was a perfect size for a starter and one that I would have again.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

6oz Scotch Cheeseburger £13
baby gem, sweet chilli mango, fries

I have not had the burger her for a long long time, and this was different to the one from ages ago so I ordered it.

On arrival wow this was a massive burger, and smelled really good.

Now time to dig in.

This was some bite! the flavour was nice, the burger was tender and it all tasted really really good. My only comment would be it was just too thick, a little thinner would have really helped with a perfect bite but thats just a personal thing.

My Rating :

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Overall :

Tonight we all had a great night, very relaxing, filled with laughs and the birthday boy enjoyed his night.

Another really nice visit at the Strathaven Hotel and if you have never been add it to your list.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Tony Macaroni (Silverburn Shopping Centre) 2021 : Review

The Visit

I have not been to a Tony’s in a long time, so it was time to go back and check them out.

I was up at Silverburn doing a bit of shopping, and decided tonight this is where I would be dinning for dinner.

The Burger

Tony Macaroni Burger £10.95
Homemade 6oz beef burger (x2), topped with our melted mushroom cheese, caramelised onions, bacon and lotto lettuce

For those that don’t know I work in an opticians, and I completely missed that it said 2 beef burgers….I think I should get a check-up.

The burger was massive, and looked very good so it was time to dig in.

This was nice, the burgers were nice and tender and everything was cooked perfectly….though none of the flavours stood out for me they all blended into each other.

The chips were good but I felt they were brought out the oil just a few seconds too soon, as a few more seconds they would have had a better texture and crisp to them.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Overall :

It was nice to be back out again and sitting in a restaurant, and nice to be back at Tony’s.

Tonight the waitress was very friendly and very helpful.

The food tonight was very filling, due to the double burger which I didn’t read correctly.

The burger was nice, flavour was nice and I enjoyed it. I would maybe try another one on my next visit as they had a few that jumped out at me.

My Rating :

Rating: 4 out of 5.
