Afternoon Tea for Two £29.95
Freshly made sandwiches, homemade scones, and cakes served with tea or coffee

As soon as it arrived, the spread looked incredibly enticing. There was an abundance of sandwiches, a tempting array of cakes, and some unique scones to kick things off. Today, they had coconut and chocolate scones, which were simply amazing.

Let’s start with the sandwiches. You had a choice from the menu to choose from and I picked– brie with cranberry, cheese and pickle, and tuna mayo.

Each one of these sandwiches was a flavor-packed delight, and they tasted incredibly fresh. The fact that there were plenty of them was a real treat in itself.

Moving on to the scones, served with clotted cream and preserve.

The scones were exceptional, and the choice of clotted cream was a big win for me. The combination of flavors was perfect, so much so that I’ve already decided to have one of these instead of cake on my next visit. They were that good!

Now, the cakes. By the time I got to them, I was already quite full, but I couldn’t resist trying a couple.

They were as delectable as I remembered from previous visits. In fact, I had to take some home because I was simply too stuffed.

Afternoon Tea at Cameron House (Loch Lomond) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

Today marked my dad’s birthday celebration, and my mum and I planned a special treat for him: an exquisite afternoon tea at Cameron House.

Despite my frequent visits to Loch Lomond shores and its picturesque surroundings, I had never ventured into Cameron House before, making this outing all the more exciting.

Upon our arrival, I was immediately captivated by the breathtaking beauty of the place, and stepping inside Cameron House, the impeccable service and warm greetings from the staff only added to the day.

As we settled into our seats, taking in the surroundings, we found ourselves in a charming, snug, and classically decorated room that offered a delightful view of the loch.

Now, I won’t deny it; afternoon tea can be a bit of a splurge. But hey, we were at a place as prestigious as Cameron House, so we were determined to see if it lived up to the price tag and it was for a special treat.

The Afternoon Tea

So, the moment that tray of afternoon tea goodies landed on our table, two thoughts crossed my mind: 1. This spread looked seriously impressive, and 2. Could we actually devour all of this?

We wasted no time and dove right in. First up, they served this little palate cleanser that was basically like a burst of fresh air for your taste buds. It was so light it was practically air “aerated chilled sweet pea soup”

Now, let’s get to the good stuff—the afternoon tea itself. It was delicious, no doubt about it. And here’s the kicker: it was surprisingly filling! Though, if I’m being nitpicky, I could’ve gone for a tad more of those initial nibbles.

But seriously, presentation? Top-notch. Taste? Exceptional. I can’t find a single fault here, folks. It was really, really good.

And let’s not forget about the service. From the moment we walked into the moment we waddled out (because we were so stuffed), the staff were absolute gems. They explained everything with a friendly smile and constantly checked if we needed more drinks or if everything was A-okay. Service? Flawless.

Final Thoughts…

All in all, our visit today was simply outstanding. I’m struggling to find a single flaw in our experience. Now, let’s chat about the elephant in the room – the price. Personally, I did raise an eyebrow at the cost initially. But when you take into account what you’re treated to and the stunning surroundings, it kind of evens the playing field.

Sure, you can score a cheaper afternoon tea with the same amount of food elsewhere. But here’s the kicker – do you get that impeccable level of service and those jaw-dropping views? That’s a question you’ve got to weigh in your mind. For me, my dad, and my mom today, the answer was a resounding “yes.” It was worth every penny.

Plus, it was my dad’s birthday, and seeing the smile on his face as he savored every bite of that afternoon tea? Priceless.

Bettys Café Tea Rooms (Harrogate, Yorkshire) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

If you follow my blog, Youtube, or Instagram you know I like doing my random drives.

I have had Harrowgate on my list to visit for a while, and this weekend I finally did that.

I did a little research and found that Bettys Tea Rooms was the place to visit, and also to check out their afternoon tea….so I did just that.

On arrival I was shown a table downstairs, I am guessing to sit upstairs you need to book in advance.

Downstairs was ok decor-wise, a little dull but very relaxing.

The Food

So I knew I wanted to try the afternoon teas as I heard it’s a MUST when you visit here.

Spring & Summer Afternoon Tea £29.95pp
A Selection of sandwiches, scone with strawberry preserve and cream, miniature cake selection

On arrival, this looked nice, but I did notice there were only two scones which 99% of places I have had afternoon tea give you…also, the cakes on the top were tiny!

I started with the sandwiches…

I will start by saying they were very tasty and fresh, and every bite was nice but again I did feel there wasn’t really enough….maybe an extra one or two would have been better.

The scone I have to admit even though there was only one, was really nice and with the cream and jam, it was really good.

The cakes as I said were visually tiny and were gone fast but I still feel a few more would have been nice.

I got coffee with this and it was a nice coffee, but not once did I get offered any more which I have always been asked at all my afternoon tea’s anywhere I go.

Final Thoughts…

Overall it was just ok, everything had a nice flavour and very fresh but for the amount I was paying today it was a little short

I was with my mum today and she had the same, and when she ordered a top-up for her tea we had to wait a while before it was brought out….and yes we had to get the staff’s attention to ask for this top-up.

Sorry guys!
