Monty Hitchcock Art Exhibition ‘Unlocked’ Part 3 2021 : Review

It’s been a while but finally, Monty Hitchcock is back, to show off his amazing art plus a few new pieces.

Remember to keep watching his Instagram and Facebook page, for future dates and send him a message to get an invite as you have to see his art in person to appreciate how detailed they are.

About Monty Hitchcock

Monty is an award-winning film production designer and is currently designing the 3rd series of Netflix series pennyworth. He was in Forbes magazine as one of the top 7 art exhibitions to see in London last year with his 1st solo show.

After 35 years as an art director in the film industry, events in Monty’s life compelled him to begin expressing himself on canvas. Two years of self-exploration resulted in an extraordinary collection of large-scale paintings of richly layered paints that pulsate on the canvas in a language that is, in parts, abstract, figurative and expressionistic

Tonight Visit

The showing was in the same location as last time, but the layout was a little different so more of his artwork was on display.

Monty’s Wall of Sketches

Over the year Monty has sketched many different things, some from on his journeys and others for part of his movie career.

Kids from Kingspark Secondary school visited the night before, and they got to meet Monty and decide on this placement. From what I heard they were amazed by all the artwork, and loved meeting Monty.

I stood here for a long time taking in each sketch, but I needed a second, third, and even more, look at each as every time more details stood out and grabbed my attention.

Two on here really caught my eye, one was a sketch from the Tom and Gerry movie, and the other from Pennyworth the TV series. The colours, contrast, and lighting effects in these sketches were amazing.

NEW – Dancing Heads Series x4

Just look at these, how cool do they look? I loved how Monty used his now signature blue in each of these, to depict the dancers yet if you look again you see what looked to me like tribal masks…..art on two later which is very cool.

The contrasting colors and depth of each of these were great.

Overall

I have loved visiting and seeing Monty’s new artwork and seeing everyone’s reactions to his art.

I aim to keep following Monty on his Glasgow journey and visit his events in the future.

If you have liked what you have seen from my posts, and blog please follow his Instagram and Facebook page to keep up to date on when the next event will be.

Monty Hitchcock Art Exhibition ‘Unlocked’ Part 2 2021 : Review

Guess who is back? yip the main man Monty for a second showing of his amazing art.

I was invited to come back to have a second viewing, and I am so glad I did.

The Visit

Check out my first visit review here Monty Hitchcock Art Exhibition ‘Unlocked’

The showing was in the same location as last time, so it was very easy for me to find it again.

A few paintings had been moved and one that was out last time that I completely missed was in a different location so this time round I checked it out.

At first viewing I was seeing something, then when Monty told me more about it BANG I instantly saw it. I could see the dog’s features and also him and his wife dancing…this was VERY VERY well done.

I spotted a print on the table, and wow the detail that this caught was really good. I learned you can order prints of any size to suit your room, and the level of detail in these prints is much better than any I have seen before.

Because I knew about each painting I could really appreciate them all, plus the level of detail that went into each of them.

I got another chance to speak to Monty and what a guy! he is so lovely and has amazing stories to tell.

Monty is here all weekend and will be back again so check the event out now and go follow his Instagram, etc

See you soon.

Monty Hitchcock Art Exhibition ‘Unlocked’ 2021 : Review

The guys over at Monty Hitchcock’s instagram sent me a wee message, asking if I would be interesting in coming along to see an art exhibition.

This sounded very interesting, and I like supporting anything in Glasgow so I accepted and added the date to my calendar.

The Visit

Tonight Monty released his exhibition ‘Unlocked’ at Argyll Chambers, which will run from July 30 to August 1….don’t worry if you missed this, as it will be returning soon so keep watching his Instagram page.

A percentage of the sales will go to the ADHD Foundation.

On entering to be honest I didn’t know what to expect, but I was welcomed and given a drink.

The atmosphere was very nice, you could feel the buzz in the air and also there was some background music playing….plus it was a lovely evening so the room was nice and bright.

As I was sipping my drink I stood and looked around, I knew I would need to go up to each painting to appreciate it…then just as I was about to start walking I was introduced to Monty.

Monty’s funky glasses, lovely personality, and addictive smile instantly made me smile, after introductions Monty offered to tell me about his wonderful artwork.

Just listening to Monty speak, and hearing his thought process on each piece really made it extra special for me and gave me a better understanding of the art.

Monty really captivated me, and just listening to him I could get a feel of just how much passion he had for his art.

After listening to Monty I took a solo walk around the exhibition, and now with this insight made me appreciate each piece that little bit more.

For me, his painting titled “Cave” was the one that caught my eye, the colors used and textures just did it for me.

Overall this was a great night, I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I don’t want to reveal too much in this post, as it’s something you have to see in person to appreciate.

I loved meeting Monty and I am already looking forward to a return visit to see what his future work will reveal.

If you can please do check this out, and as I said at the start follow his Instagram to keep up to date on future events.

See you soon.
