Bettys Café Tea Rooms (Harrogate, Yorkshire) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

If you follow my blog, Youtube, or Instagram you know I like doing my random drives.

I have had Harrowgate on my list to visit for a while, and this weekend I finally did that.

I did a little research and found that Bettys Tea Rooms was the place to visit, and also to check out their afternoon tea….so I did just that.

On arrival I was shown a table downstairs, I am guessing to sit upstairs you need to book in advance.

Downstairs was ok decor-wise, a little dull but very relaxing.

The Food

So I knew I wanted to try the afternoon teas as I heard it’s a MUST when you visit here.

Spring & Summer Afternoon Tea £29.95pp
A Selection of sandwiches, scone with strawberry preserve and cream, miniature cake selection

On arrival, this looked nice, but I did notice there were only two scones which 99% of places I have had afternoon tea give you…also, the cakes on the top were tiny!

I started with the sandwiches…

I will start by saying they were very tasty and fresh, and every bite was nice but again I did feel there wasn’t really enough….maybe an extra one or two would have been better.

The scone I have to admit even though there was only one, was really nice and with the cream and jam, it was really good.

The cakes as I said were visually tiny and were gone fast but I still feel a few more would have been nice.

I got coffee with this and it was a nice coffee, but not once did I get offered any more which I have always been asked at all my afternoon tea’s anywhere I go.

Final Thoughts…

Overall it was just ok, everything had a nice flavour and very fresh but for the amount I was paying today it was a little short

I was with my mum today and she had the same, and when she ordered a top-up for her tea we had to wait a while before it was brought out….and yes we had to get the staff’s attention to ask for this top-up.

Sorry guys!

Afternoon Tea at Roman Camp Hotel (Callander, Scotland) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

I have visited the Roman Camp many times, and also done a few reviews so do check them out.

Today was the first time actually going inside the main building, and also the first time trying their afternoon tea.

On arrival we were shown to our seats in a stunning room, this had a great cosy and traditional feel and look to it.

The only downside I thought was it lacked a little music, just a very low volume music would have just given it that little bit more atmosphere.

The Bon Bon was the first to be served, and it looked very good and also had a really good aroma.

The flavour was perfect and it was perfectly cooked, the haggis was not a strong flavour and everything worked extremely well together…I could have easily had lots more of this.

Then the afternoon tea arrived, it was the sandwich and savoury part.

Everything looked very good, at first I thought maybe I am going to be leaving here hungry after this but I was wrong.

Everything was a perfect size, for a bite and chat and sitting in the room I was very relaxed and enjoyed the first part. The sausage rolls were mega tasty, and I could easily had a few more!!!

Now the sweet treats parts arrived.

Extra points here as they served clotted cream with the scones! this is the way it should be served as it tastes so so much better.

Everything was very fresh and packed with flavour and come to the end of all of this I was very full.

This is a great afternoon tea and one I highly recommend you try.

Afternoon Tea at The Corinthian (Glasgow) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

It’s been a while since my last visit and today it was on my list to revisit.

Last time I was here I had their afternoon tea and today I popped in and didn’t know what to order, but I did see they had Afternoon Tea on offer so that’s what I went with today.

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea £25pp
Our signature Afternoon Tea features fresh hand-cut sandwiches, as well as our famous selection of cakes and sweet treats

On arrival, just like last time this looked amazing!

The presentation was perfect, and everything looked so so good!

I loved the wee addition this time round of the canapés and little soup, I could be wrong but I can’t remember this last time. The canapés were very tasty and the soup today was tomato.

The sandwiches were very fresh, and packed with great flavours and I enjoyed every bite.

Now on to the scones, and I am happy to say they served them with Clotted Cream which for me is the ONLY way you should serve scones with cream and jam.

The scones were plain scones and cinnamon scones, and both were so so tasty…I always love a good scone with cream and jam.

Once I finished the scones, it was time for more sweet treats and the cakes they brought out today looked amazing!

Every single cake was soo sweet and extremely delicious.
