Charcoals (Merchant City, Glasgow) 2022 : Review

The Visit

I visited Charcoals loads many years ago, and due to life getting in the way and also owning a car that stopped.

Where Charcoals used to the, the main one it was always very difficult to park plus driving in town is crazy.

I noticed recently that it had now moved to what was Charcoals Cafe and had to take a visit.

The Food

I had a nosy at the menu before visiting, and knew what I wanted to order.

Allo Tikki £3.95
An Indian street food made with mashed potatoes, peas and onions.

I wanted to try something completely different to what I normally order, and this caught my attention.

On arrival this looked very nice, and smelt really good….so now it was time to taste.

This was very tasty, it had the perfect slight crunch to it followed by a great flavour.

I would easily have this again, and the best part it was light and I knew I had space for my main.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Kofta Curry £12.95
Kofta is a family meat ball dishes famous in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Tonight I opted for the Kofta Curry and some rice rather than naan etc

I had not had Kofta Curry for a long time so I was looking forward to this.

On arrival I was hit with an amazing smell, and it looked so so good!

I plated up and tasted.

WOW! this had a lovey flavour, the sauce was really nice and i loved the flavour. The meat balls were very tender, and packed a great flavour and all of it combines just created a really amazing and mega moreish dish.

I am not just saying this, but I enjoyed every single bite!

My Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Mango lassi

A must for me when I visit and Indian restaurant!

This is my favourite drink, and I have made my own at home.

If you like smoothies then you need to try a mango lassi if you havent ever had one.

My Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Overall :

I enjoyed being back at Charcoals as it had been far too long!

This is how I remembered Charcoals, great food, good service and was nice to see Ali again and have a good chat.

Cafe Circa (Abernyte) 2022 : Review

The Visit

I felt like a drive and Perth was on my hit list, so I got up and took a drive to Perth.

Before going to the town centre I stopped by the Scottish Antiques and Arts Centre and popped into Cafe Circa for a spot of lunch.

Lunch

Bacon, Brie & Cranberry Ciabatta £9.95

I saw a few things that sounded nice, but this caught my eye.

On arrival this looked very nice, and I couldn’t wait to dig right in as I was very hungry.

I took a nice big bite and ohh this was nice….flavour wise just ok as the bacon was the strongest flavour here but overall it was just nice.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Overall:

Overall todays visit was very nice, I had a wee walk about the antiques part and then had a lovely lunch.

I liked the little shop near the cafe, as they did a lot of really nice looking products.

My Undiscovered Scotland : Glencoe

I remember the first time I saw Glencoe and it blew me away!

It was a few years ago, at that point I didn’t drive and I booked a tour with Discover Scotland Tours to see some sights. It was an early start but 100% worth it, as I got to see many places I never thought I would visit and the guys were great at telling us some of the history.

Check them out as they do a lot of fantastic tours!

Lets get back to Glencoe….so on route my eyes were darting about every where as all the sights of Scotland were now arround me.

The views on the drive there were stunning and then it slowly appeared in the distance and kept getting bigger and bigger as we got closer….we had arrived in Glencoe and my mouth just dropped….absolutely stunning!

This was when I caught the bug to see more of Scotland and it all started with Glencoe!

One you get past a stop called the Green Welly, there are plenty of areas to stop and check out the sights…but make sure you let whoever is behind you know in plenty of time as they sometimes drive fast on this route.

If you are with the tour they will stop at safe places, and you an check out the views.

Last year I took some friends a drive to see some sights and Glencoe was one of them, they all loved the views and said they would love to return to take the sights in again as it’s so beautiful.
