With its easy to use Christmas Dinner in a Box having proved extremely popular for the last two Christmases, Wedgwood the Restaurant, in Edinburgh’s Canongate, has announced that the boxes, offering a six course luxury Christmas feast to enjoy at home, are available once again this festive season, and are now a permanent feature in the restaurant’s portfolio.
Ready to order online now, at https://www.
Created using the best of local Scottish ingredients, and supplied with fail safe instructions as to how to cook and plate the dishes, the boxes were originally devised by acclaimed chef and restaurateur, Paul Wedgwood, during covid times.
Supplied for one, two, and three people, as well as multiples thereof, the boxes proved in great demand for home cooks looking for a fine dining style Christmas Dinner that is hassle free.
Having once again delved into his tried and tested festive cookbook, and drawing on his band of quality produce suppliers, Paul has devised two Christmas 2026 boxes, a regular one for meat eaters, containing a Roast Turkey, Mallard Breast, or Pressed Ham Hock main course, and a vegetarian version, which has a delicious sweet potato, chestnut & spinach rotolo, with all the traditional trimmings, as the main course choice.
Initially, demand for the boxes meant that Paul, and wife, Lisa, had to close Wedgwood the Restaurant to make time and space to prepare all the boxes. But last year they were able to acquire a kitchen unit in Leith, to help with production, meaning their restaurant did not have to close, and lose business.
They were also able to cover national deliveries for the first time, as originally delivery was only to Edinburgh and the Lothians.
This year, the specially insulated boxes will be sent out on Monday 21st December, for delivery by Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd. Customers across Edinburgh and EH postcodes, can, if they wish, collect their box from the restaurant on either the 23rd or 24th December, or, they can have the pleasure of Lisa and Paul, or one of their team members, hand delivering the boxes to their homes on Christmas Eve.
“We’re boxing clever again this Christmas,” said Paul Wedgwood. “Our Wedgwood the Restaurant At Home Festive Box is an established product, of which we’re immensely proud. We are really pleased that it’s available again this year.”
“We’ve had very positive feedback on our box for one, as those dining alone on the big day certainly shouldn’t miss out on something tasty to treat themselves to,” he said.
“We also offer gluten-free options.”
Paul went on to say that he wanted all of those purchasing a box to feel more relaxed and in control as they prepare their Christmas Day Dinner.
“The designated cook can often miss out on the fun of the day, busy cooking for everyone and worrying about timings. Our regular box contains an easy to plate cold starter of Smoked Shetland Salmon, served with pink grapefuit, fennel, crème fraiche and douglas fir honey, followed by a Jerusalem artichoke pancetta and lentil Veloute. Both of these dishes are ready in minutes.”
Paul described the four other courses included in the regular box, a Roe Deer Pastrami, with celeraic remoulade, sweet & sour brambles, bone marrow & parsley, the main course of roast turkey, mallard breast or pressed ham hock, and the two delicious and indulgent desserts, both of which encapsulate the flavours of Christmas – a Gran Marnier Panna Cotta with gingerbread crumb, and a Christmas Pudding with XO rum sauce.
“It’s all super easy, with one course gently heating as you enjoy the previous one,” said Paul. “You can choose different mains for different people. In a box for two, for example, one person can opt for the turkey while the other guest has the mallard breast.”
“Christmas Day Dinner should be the most special dinner you enjoy all year,” he added. “We have sourced produce of the very highest standard from our trusted suppliers, such as Castle Game, who are supplying the mallard duck & roe deer, and David Lowrie Fish Merchants, who also have an esteemed reputation.”
“Follow our step-by-step instructions, and you can’t go wrong. You will be able to enjoy the celebrations far more!”
Customers also have the chance to add specially selected wines to their order, including Wedgwood’s very own Rioja.
Paul and Lisa confirmed that Wedgwood vouchers are fully redeemable against the festive boxes.
