Gin Fall 2021 Event (Pollokshields Burgh Hall)

Ginfall Festival is the brainchild of the team behind Social and Cocktail Events – the leading premier Cocktail Events company in Scotland and Ireland. With over 8 years of experience developing and managing events from Aberdeen to Glasgow and now a cocktail delivery service in Glasgow, Social and Cocktail saw the opportunity to create a superior experience for customers and gin brands and decided to create something ginmazing.

I was lucky to be invited by the company Social and Cocktail and given two free entry tickets, I have been to one of their events before so a BIG!!!!! thanks to them again for another invite! as it was great to be back.

The Goodies

I couldnt attend and not get a few wee things….so today I spent and got some nice little treats.

Paisley Drinks Co

About : Refreshing small batch craft soda! 100% natural! Free from artificial flavours, colouring, preservatives, gluten or caffeine.

IG: @paisleydrinksco

This was the first stall I stopped at today at Ginfall, I have never heard of this brand so I was excited to be introduced to it.

I noticed this was not Gin, but after chatting to the guy today these sounded very good and I had to have a wee sample.

The one I tried was the Strawberry Snowball, and it was lovely. It was a great flavour with a coconut after taste… I got a mixed case.

I then tried these when I got home and have to say I really loved the flavours of each of these.

The Strawberry Snowball is still my fav and cant wait to order a few more soon.

Guys check them out!!

Aelder Elixir – Wild elderberry liqueur by Buck & Birch

About : In 2008 Co founders Tom Chisholm & Rupert Waites, bound by a common love for the outdoors and considerable experience in the hospitality industry, hosted the first ever Buck & Birch dining event. Could they create a menu using only ingredients foraged from the landscape? Would diners care and connect?

Over the next decade the pair have hosted hundreds of guests, moved from garden shed to production facility, won awards, worked with industry leaders, world renowned chefs and bar tenders. They’ve appeared in feature films, on television and radio, educated, collaborated and innovated.

This was the second stall I stopped at at Ginfall 2021

Another new brand for me so I was excited to try a wee taste. There were two to taste and buy today, but I was watching my pennies so I could get a few things today to support a few stalls so I opted for this one.

Flavour wise it reminded me of a port which was good as I have started to really enjoy ports, also fruits with hints chocolate for me.

Since this was more like a port thats why I opted for this one, but I look forward to trying more from this brand as its very very good!!

About : Our handcrafted small-batch Scottish gin is made from a combination of traditional botanicals and nettle, heather, smoked pink peppercorns and smoked chillies.

The botanicals are blended and slowly infused, before distillation in a traditional copper pot still.

Another new brand for me, and I had to try a wee sample.

I took a taste of the sample and WOW this was interesting, I started to get a pepper taste but a nice subtle one followed by a slightly chilli flavour ohhh this was interesting.

I really liked this pepper taste to this gin, as it was very pleasant and unusual and so easy to drink.

I only got a wee bottle today, but next time I see this gin I will be buying the bigger bottle.

Check them out!!!

Ellis Gin – Scottish Bramble and Lemon

This was another new brand for me, and one that caught my eye due to the stall display so I had to pop over and check them out.

I started with the Bramble Gin

About : “Gorgeous Floral Gin with a little Spice – it is a beautiful red colour. Serve with Tonic or Ginger Ale and a slice of Orange

This was very pleasant and had a nice flavour, and very easy to drink. I tried the bramble gin with a tonic, and it was very cool to see the colour change to orange…definitely a fun topic of conversation at a party.

I could easily see myself getting this one again.

Next was the Lemon gin

About “This lovely Citrus gin is so refreshing and naturally coloured and flavoured using the Peel or luscious lemons”

Ohhhh…I didnt try this at this event so this was a complete surprise for me.

I took a sip and thought WOW this was very nice, and it reminded me of a smoother Lemoncello but Gin. I wish I got a big bottle of this as it was mega mega tasty!!!!

The lemon one was my fav and I will be getting the bigger bottle soon.

Double distilled in small batches from sugar cane in a traditional cooper pot still, adding botanicals and a final touch of Valencian citrus for a lovely sherbetty finish.

Made in Valencia, Spain.

I came across this gin at the first Ginfall, and said to the guy I would get some next time round.

I did actually buy some before that, and todays event I purchased another bottle.

This is a lovely gin, that has a nice subtle lemon flavour to it and so tasty to sip and enjoy snuggled up on the couch.

This has lovely fresh lemon notes, and just as nice and subtle to taste.

I highly recommend you order this as its a lovely drink to have alone or with some friends and I am sure you will agree its a great gin to add to your collection.

Overall :

This is such a good event to visit, for Gin lovers and people who would love to learn about Gin as you get to try many little samples.

The event is one that I will be attending next time, and if your interested do check them out and maybe I will see you there.

Glasgow Fort – Seize The Day Visit 2021

AD / Invited 21st August 2021

The Visit

The guys at the Glasgow Fort asked me if I would like to come and spend the day there, and enjoy being back out and have a fun-filled day.

I added it to my calendar and invited my friend to join me, plus he could help film me etc

As you may have seen from my many stories yesterday I had a great day and got up to MANY MANY things.

Before this invite, I really did think there wasn’t much to do here, but visiting yesterday I was proven so so wrong there are LOADS!!!!

I visited many shops and purchased many different things with my budget so now it’s time for me to take photos and let you know what I got and my thoughts.

Part 1 : The Shopping

I started the day off by hitting the shops, I took a look on the website and had a few in mind but if somewhere caught my eye I would take a wee trip inside.

IG : @waterstones

I started at the Waterstones end as this was close proximity to where I parked the car.

Waterstones always has a nice relaxing atmosphere, from the moment you step foot in the shop….now it was time to look about the store.

I got this :

My friend loves Deadpool comics and also the whole superhero/Marvel scene, so I knew he would enjoy this and it would make good weekend or bed time reading for him.

So I got it as a wee gift 🙂

We arrived at the Glasgow Fort around 12:30 and after sometime in Waterstones, we both were a little hungry so we started walking looking for somewhere.

I spotted MacTassos and HAD to stop and try their food, as I follow them on my Instagram and been meaning to check them out for a while now.

I got :

Falafel £4.50 (pita with tzatziki, tomato, onion, parsley and chips)

The smell of the cooking while I was waiting was amazing, made me more hungry.

This was my first Falafel so I was looking forward to trying it.

Yum Yum Yum! this was very very nice, it was filling yet light at the same time. It was the perfect stop for lunch today, and I am so glad I spotted them. I will try another option next time I see them.

The next stop was Lush, as I wanted to get some soaps as their products are always really good and smell amazing.

My mum loves Lush stuff, so I thought lets pop in and get her a wee gift.

As soon as I stepped inside you are hit with a lovely fragrance, and a world of colours and very friendly staff.

I knew my mum liked soap so I went to the soap section, and smelled a few display soaps and made my mind on the ones that I thought she would like.

I also got it wrapped in a funky cloth and added the soap tray.

She was very happy with this gift, and its on display in their bathroom.

Millie’s Cookies

I remember in College and Uni and a little after that I had a massive Milles addiction, I couldn’t pass the shop without getting a bag of 6 🙂

I haven’t had one for ages, so Millie’s was a 100% must visit…and today I did.

My eye lit up as soon as I walked in, as I could see all the cookies and wanted just to say “I will take them all please” but I was a good boy and only ordered a box of 12 random cookies”.

I don’t think these will last long, but they are just soo good.

I like Superdry clothing, so I knew I had to pay a visit and see if anything jumped out at me today.

I did see a new white Hoodie, but I put up a poll on my Instagram to see what everyone’s thoughts were and they said no…so I had to think and look again.

I spotted a nice grey t-shirt, and instantly went up and paid for it.

I look forward to wearing it on my next night out.

I will do a wee review of this on Instagram once I have had it on.

TGI Fridays

A mid stop between shops my friend and I went to TGI’s for a wee drink, I had a mocktail and he had a cocktail.

My first mocktail was a Strawberry Fields £3.80 and my second was a Tropical Sunshine £3.80

Both of these mocktails were very tasty and very refreshing and a nice wee drink mid shopping.

Part 2 : Evening Meal

Walking around, enjoying the shops really builds up an appetite so it was now time to decide where to eat.

Nachos (Cheese Nachos) £10.95

Originally I was going to order this as just my starter, but we opted tonight to share the starter….I am so glad we did.

This was massive! but so so good!

The flavour was amazing, and it was extremely moreish. If we weren’t ordering a main we probably could have easily had one each as we loved it.

There is a slight kick to this, so if your into that you may want to skip this or if you are having more than one course maybe share this with someone.

My Rating :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Main Course :

MJs House Chicken Burger £8.95 + House Fries £3.45

I wanted to go for a chicken burger tonight, and spotted this was a new addition to their menu so I had to try it out.

Wow this was a HUGE burger!!

I was really thinking “how am I going to finish this” only one way to find out and I started…

This was so good, the chicken had a nice slight crunch to it and all the flavours worked perfectly….I loved every bite.

I will admit I left the chips as once I finished my burger I was ready to explode, but I did try the chips and they were but the burger was the winner tonight.

My Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Strawberry Cream Soda £5.95

I was driving today, so for dinner I fancied a mocktail and I asked the waitress what was the sweetest and she told me about this one….so I ordered it.

This was a great recommendation, as it was very refreshing and had a really nice sweet and strawberry flavour.

It was so good I had two of these.

End of the Day

The Vue : Free Guy

Plot : A bank teller discovers that he’s actually an NPC inside a brutal, open world video game.

From the trailers this looked fun, but I didn’t know how much fun and if it was going to be good to actually go and watch.

Only one way to find out, so we booked it for the last part of our day at the Vue and sat down and watched.

For me the film was actually much better than expected, I laughed a lot and it did actually have a decent plot. There was a lot of game jokes, so if your not a gamer you may miss them.

It was a fun ride from start to end, and as I said we both enjoyed it much more than expected.

My Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Overall :

Firstly a massive thanks to the guys at Glasgow Fort for giving me a wee spending budget and for making my weekend amazing!

As I said at the start I had always thought you couldn’t spend the day here but today I was proven 100% wrong. I had a blast and so did my friend, we had such a good day and many laughs.

I highly recommend coming here, as you saw you can shop eat and also see a film.

The Great Outdoor Cinema – Dirty Dancing 2021 : Review

Event Date : 16/08/2021 (Invited)

By the team that brought you The Drive-In Cinema in 2020, we cannot wait to welcome you to The Great Outdoor Cinema in 2021.

This year it’s all about getting outside, enjoying the fresh air and making up for lost entertainment. Enjoy our selection of street food alongside cinema snack classics such as fresh popcorn and an ice blast! Make the most of our mobile bar and sip on an ice cold gin & tonic whilst you sit back and enjoy the film (subject to licensing).

The Event

I have never been to an outdoor cinema before, so I was very excited and couldnt wait to have that experience.

The guys asked if I would like to come to the first Glasgow night, and watch Dirty Dancing…and I instantly said yes as it sounded lots of fun plus Dirty Dancing is a very good movie.

The event was at Pollock House which is only a 20 min drive from where I currently stay, plus its also a short drive from Silverburn Shopping Centre so you could easily go for a shop meal and then the film.

On arrival I found a parking space, and grabbed my foldup chair. You could hire chairs on the night, but I had one so I thought I might as well use it.

It was at the back of Pollock House, and the screen was setup and waiting for everyone. There was also a food truck, in case anyone wanted some dinner or movie nibbles.

We all sat and waited for others to arrive, and also the movie to start.

It was time for all of us to have the time of our life……bad pun sorry.

Firstly a big thanks to the guys for the invite tonight.

Tonight was lots of fun, and it was a nice dry night which really helped. It was a great first night for everyone, and we all loved the film.

They have more films on show, but be fast as they are getting booked up quick.

Check them out now!! you will love it!

Rating: 5 out of 5.
