The Little Cafe (Glasgow, West End) : Review

The Little Cafe

V: 10th December 2019

I have walked past The Little Cafe many times when going different places, and always looked in and thought I need to check them out.

I saw from the window they did pizzas and ciabattas etc, last Saturday I popped in and got a ciabatta for lunch and it was VERY GOOD.

Today I went in for dinner and here is what I thought.

Looking Around

Inside is just like a little cafe, with some booths and some tables.

Tonight was very busy but we managed to get a table, and started to think what to order.

Pizza :

Chorizo Pizza £8.00

On arrival it looked a good size and visually very nice.

The flavours were really nice, and the base was thin which after finishing the pizza I found it very easy to digest where other times I have had pizza I felt a little bloated.

The base was a little crispy, but I didn’t mind as the flavour was very good.

Visit Overall :

Overall I enjoyed my pizza, and already planning on going back to try a few other dishes and the cakes as they looked good.

I got talking to the owner / chef and he is a really nice guy, and inside had a nice cosy friendly atmosphere.

See you soon Little Cafe.

DryGate Brewery NEW Bar Food and Cocktail Menu (Glasgow) : Review

Invited

V: 6th March 2020

The guys over at DryGate Brewery, invited me over to the launch night of their new bar Food and Cocktail menu.

Looking Around

I have been to Drygate many times, with friends or with the craft beer tasting tours so I know it very well.

The event tonight was upstairs, the new menu for upstairs only.

The Food

I didnt know what was in store for me tonight, but I was mega looking forward to it.

I was told that a sampler would be brought round to me, and I could select 2 cocktails to try which was great.

Sampler

  • Pizza By The Slice
  • Cauliflower Wings (VG)
  • Tacos : Crisp Fried Haddock
  • House Made Nachos (V)

All of these samples were very nice, and full of flavour, my favourite from this selection was the Cauliflower Wings and I could have easily had more.

The fish taco was nice, but the taco broke up for me very easily so I couldn’t grab and eat, I had to use my knife and fork.

And there was more..

This was Drygates Vegan Curry was served in a tiffin tray with bread, rice and dips.

Presentation wise I really liked this, and as you can see its very instagramable…..now for the taste..

This was a VERY good curry, and extremely moreish.

If you like currys you need to try this, and I promise you you wont regret it.

Cocktails :

Orinoco Russian : Vodka, Coffee Liqueur, Orinoco Syrup, Milk and Cream Chocolate

and

Pineapple Rum Old Fashioned : Plantation Pineapple Rum, Sugar and Orange Bitters

Both these cocktails were very good, but my fav and one I would definitely have again is the Orinoco Russian mmmmm so good 🙂

Visit Overall :

Note : Just because this was an invite, that has not influenced my thoughts in any way. The above is a 100% honest review of the day.

Firstly a big thanks to DryGate for my invite, I really had a great time and good food and cocktails.

I really loved the Cauliflower Wings and the Drygate Vegan curry, these were my top two dishes from tonight.

Overall I can recommend you visit and try the new menu and the cocktails, as I really enjoyed what I had. Thanks again guys 🙂

See you soon

Pizza Punks (Glasgow) : Review

Pizza Punks
90 St Vincent Street
Glasgow

V: 6th August 2019. T: 0141 237 8020. W: www.pizzapunks.co.uk

I got a wee ping from the guys at Pizza Punks inviting me to come in and enjoy a pizza, I liked it last time I was here (ages ago) and heard that its only gotten better so I accepted and set a date to go in.

Tonight guys I was getting Pizza Punked 🙂

On entering tonight it still had that very cool modern, and funky look and vibe.

I was shown to my table, and had a wee look at the menu.

The menu

I had a few options tonight, one was to build my own pizza or choose one….tough choice.

I decided to choose one from the menu and selected one from the staff favourites to see what they like.

Hopefully the staff had good taste, as the one I spotted sounded really good.

The pizza I chose tonight was the “Say Cheeseburger”

Say Cheeseburger £n/a (normally £9)
Red Sauce / Applewood Smoked Cheddar / Meatballs / Burger Relish / Pickles

This pizza sounded really good and right up my street.

On arrival this looked good, smelled good and I couldn’t wait to dig in.

YES!!!! this was so good!!! the base was nice and thin, the toppings had an amazing flavour and the whole bite was just YUM!!!

Overall

My return to Pizza Punks was a good one, and firstly I would like to thank Pizza Punks Glasgow for inviting me tonight and spoiling me with a really good pizza.

I am going to shock you, I ONLY had the pizza yes you read that right I didnt get anything else as that was a very filling pizza but so yummy!!!

One of my pet hates when I go out for a meal is SUPER LOUD music where I cant hear the person across the table from me. Pizza Punks Glasgow had it at a very nice level, and they play some really cool tunes from Queen, ACDC to pop and disco…something for everyone.

Next visit I will try another staff fav and do a wee review.

Guys if you like good pizza, Pizza Punks Glasgow is now in my top 3 Pizza places due to the taste and atmosphere.

My review above was an invite but that didn’t influence my review in anyway, I started blogging only wanting to be 100% honest and will continue, invite, paid etc it will always be 100% honest.
