CASA TIMIS TRADITIONAL ROMANIAN RESTAURANT (TOLLCROSS, GLASGOW) 2nd Visit : Review

V: 2nd January 2020

As always after every invite I always go back to a restaurant for a second visit, to see if everything is as good the second time round…well was it?….continue reading.

The Food

As you saw from my first visit (Read Here) I had a very good experience, and very good food so it was time to order something different and try more Romanian food.

Appetiser

Platou Casa Timis / Casa Timis Sharing Board (2 People) £30.00

The sharing board contains grilled pork collar, grilled chicken breast, lamb pastrami, 2 skinless pork and beef sausages, grilled sausages served with fries, pickle salad and mustard.

RO : Platoul continue ceafa de porc, piept de pui, pastrama de oaie, 2 mici, cranaciori la gralar servita cu cartofi prajitl, salata de muraturi si mustar

I went with my financee and my best friend (Chris) who you have probably seen in my more recent Romania Vlog so a sharing board was a good option so we could sample a lot of different items.

Everything on this board I tried, and was cooked perfectly! the grilled pork collar was REALLY good as I think it was cooked in a wine and it kept the amazing flavour.

The board is meant for two people, but for the amount of food you get on it I would say 3 people…but 3 people who are getting starter, main and dessert as you get a lot of meat as you can see from the photo.

Main Course :

Crap romanesc prat sau la grader / Fried or grilled Romanian carp fish £12.50

Fried or grilled Romanian carp fish served with polenta and garlic sauce

RO : Crap romanesc prat sau la grader servit cu mamaliguta si majdei de usturoi

So the first time I had Crap or Carp as known here was when I was near the Danube in Romania, but it was a soup and very nice so I thought lets see how it is on its own and not as a soup.

I tried some carp on its own and with the polenta and really liked it, for the garlic sauce was SUPER strong so I just left that and took the rest.

The fish was cooked perfectly, and had a nice flavour.

Visit Overall :

Just like my first visit I really enjoyed all the food tonight, and the service was very good.

I can only fault the main course, maybe there could have been a little more fish but sine I was getting close to being full due to the starter I didn’t mind.

Just like last time I will also be posting a VLOG so keep a watch out for that to.

Overall a good visit, with good food and I cant wait to return to try some other dishes and get more Papanasi.

Ne vedem în curând (See you soon)

Green Chilli Cafe (West End, Glasgow) : Review

I have been here before, probably around 4 weeks prior to when this blog is dated.

I went with my girlfriend and best friend, that night I wasn’t too hungry but they really enjoyed the food so I was hungry tonight and decided to take a visit.

On entering here you have to go upstairs, this visit and last nobody was downstairs to say “just go up” which is ok if you know this if not you feel a little out of place just heading up.

Last visit we were seated to the right (where the booths are), tonight to the left where the little tables are….this is where tonight took a little bad turn.

Sitting down it was nice but not as nice as the booths area, and this is where my overall score drops instantly by 1 point.

The walls to my side look like someone threw their dinner on it, and the stains have been left for a very long time. It wasn’t loads, but it was enough that it really should have been painted!! This wasn’t good as a quick paint, would have fixed this (-1 point).

The Food…

Tonight I wanted to order a starter and a main, as last visit my best friend said his was really nice.

I saw they did a pre-theatre menu, so I opted for that £12.95

Drink

Mango Lassi

Unfortunately I didn’t catch the price of this, but I am guessing £3 or £4 (will fix once I find out). I am a big Mango Lassi fan, so I always try it wherever I go and tonight I did just that.

I have to say this was probably the best one I have had, so I am looking forward to having it again.

Starter

Chicken Pakora
Breast of chicken in spicy pakora batter.

On arrival this smelled and looked good, so it was time to dig in.

This was really nice, the flavour was good, the chicken was tender and the batter was just crispy.

I really enjoyed this and would have again.

Main

Chicken Rogan Josh

On arrival again this was another dish that smelled really good.

This was really really good, there was enough chicken, the sauce and flavour just perfect.

I would have this again.

Side

Pashwari Naan

On arrival it looked ok, and now it was time to taste as Pashwari is my fav naan.

Oh, this was not good! basically it was just a plain naan with the coconut etc lightly sprinkled on top.

There was no sweet filling, not even a little….I was very disappointed.

I wouldn’t order this again, not good guys!!

Overall

Overall it was a really mixed night, to starter and curry was very nice but the dirty walls and the naan was really bad.

I was really disappointed tonight, as the last visit my friends had a really nice meal and were seated in the booth area which was clean unlike tonight.

Will go back? not sure….

Sorry guys.

Back again to use my second and last (so far) Itison Voucher, and tonight I was trying another burger.

Main Course

The Lemmy (normally £9.50)
Beef burger topped with BBQ pulled pork, shoestring onions, cheddar & jack daniels BBQ sauce.

When this arrived it looked goooood and smelled goood, but just like last time lets start with the fries.

The fries just like my last two visits, were very nice and cooked perfectly but I would actually these were MUCH nicer than the last two visits. What ever you have changed guys, or if its the chef tonight don’t change it!!
