Patisserie Françoise (West End, Glasgow) : Review

V: 18th January 2020

I have walked past Cafe Francoise many times, and its always very busy. I think the last time I was in here, was a good few years ago? (possibly less) and I wanted to come back and try something different.

Today I was talking a walk about the West End, and popped into Cafe Francoise to have some lunch.

The Food

I looked at the menu and a good amount of dishes caught my eye, but it was lunch so I had to be good and just select one item.

Lunch

Croque Monsieur £5.95

I have not had Croque Monsieur for ages, so I thought lets have it again and see how here does it.

Ham, cheese and béchamel

On arrival this smelled and looked very good, my mouth was starting to water.

Ohh this was very good, the flavours were just perfect and every bite was packed with flavour.

I really enjoyed every mouthful of this and would have it again!

Visit Overall :

I did have to wait about 20mins for a seat, but to be honest it was worth it.

The atmosphere, and the food was very good.

I spotted they had a nice selection of cakes, so I would try one next time.

If you haven’t visited here I would give it a visit.

River House (Stirling, Scotland) : Review

V: 12th January 2020

I decided to try somewhere new today and came across this place.

Looking Around

Driving up it looks so beautiful, I don’t know if this is still some Christmas decorations or these illuminated trees will be there all the time but wow look how amazing this looked.

Heading inside again the wow factor continued, this places was so nice inside and the atmosphere instantly was very relaxing.

Appetiser

Breaded Haggis Cake £6.95

Champit potatoes, turnip purée, crisp leek, whisky mustard sauce

I was going to order my go to starter then decided nah, lets order something different and this dish jumped out at me.

Visually this looked really nice on arrival, and it was a good portion size as a starter.

Taste time…

This was very good, the haggis has the consistency of a burger and everything together wow the flavours were just amazing.

Main Course :

Simon Howie Prime Steak Burger £12.95

Milk bun, traditional burger sauce, fries, onion ring.

Added extras : Cheddar & bacon £1.50 each

Wow this was a big portion, and the smell was amazing…time to dig in.

I am not an onion ring fan, so I left this.

The burger as a whole was very good, it was very thick and the flavours plus my little extras made it very tasty.

For me it could have used a little more sauce, but thats a personal preference.

Bibimbap (Glasgow, West End) : Review

V: 28th December 2019

I have never been to Bibimbap in Glasgow before, but now that I stay in the West End I spotted that Bibimbap opened a new location in the spot where Nam Tuk Tram Stop was….so I had to to check it out.

Looking Around

One of my favourite places to visit was a place called Nam Tuk which Bibimbap now occupies so I knew how funky inside was…..so how was it now?

The layout inside is excatly the same, but the design is different.

The first thing I noticed was that the funky wall artwork has now been removed, and that the bar now looks much more minimalistic and cleaner.

What I really liked was the cool multicolours umbrellas and the neon signs on the grassy wall….that was very nice.

The Food

As I said I had never tried here or any Bibimbap before, so it was going to be a very random choice tonight.

Appetiser

Ya Chae Man Doo (v) £5.20

Vegetable Dumpling

So I have had dumplings before in the past, so I thought what better way to start and compare the food here was to try these.

These were very nice, really good flavour and had a slight crunch to the texture. Dipping them in soya sauce also enhanced the flavour, and I really enjoyed these.

Main Course :

Saeu £10.50

Korean style sweet & sour prawn

I spotted that this said it was spicy, but to be honest I thought maybe it would have a tiny kick to it….well I was wrong…

WOW firstly this was VERY spicy, but that could just be me as I am not that great with mega spicy foods.

Secondly the flavour was amazing!!!, if this didn’t have such a kick this would have been a perfect main for me.

I am very impressed with Bibimbap, and glad I visited here.

Tonight food wise was really good, but WOW that main was super spicy for me….next time something not as spicy and I will double check with the waitress lol
