About Dulse

Dulse is a seafood restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh that serves classic Scottish seafood dishes with a modern twist. Our neighbourhood-friendly restaurant is perfect for cosy and relaxed dining. Downstairs we focus on an intimate wine and cocktail bar, serving small sharing plates, and upstairs is a seafood restaurant created by Chef Dean Banks. Our team has put together a menu that showcases the best of Scottish seafood.

Visit & Vibes

If there’s one thing that can lure me away from Glasgow to Edinburgh, it’s the promise of a culinary adventure. And that’s exactly what happened when I received an invitation to visit Dulce Seafood and Wine.

Today, I embarked on a scenic drive from Glasgow to Edinburgh, not only to savor the delectable offerings of Dulce but also to explore the enchanting sights of the Scottish capital.

As I stepped into Dulce, I was warmly welcomed and led upstairs to their charming dining area. The ambiance was a perfect blend of modernity and coziness, with ample natural light flooding the space. Once seated, a friendly waitress explained the dining process and handed over the menu—a tantalizing array of dishes that had my taste buds dancing with anticipation.

The Food

When it came time to select a starter, my culinary curiosity led me to order something I had never tried before: an oyster.

Market Oyster £N/A Today (Normally £3.50 each)
Natural

Opting for the natural flavor, I was presented with a shell and a big juicy oyster.

The experience was intriguing; the oyster resembled a giant mussel, offering a briny aftertaste that was surprisingly enjoyable.

Next time I try one I will try it with a dressing and see how that experience is for me but I was left impressed by this new gastronomic experience.

Tarragon & Leek Bread & Sustainable Butter (n/a today normally £5.50)

I decided to order the bread option for the table.

The table soon saw the arrival of a bread loaf, and what a revelation it was.

This wasn’t your ordinary bread—it was a slice of heaven. The loaf was so divine that I found myself contemplating asking for an entire loaf to go.

The crust was lovely and subtly crisp, while the interior was soft and fluffy with a really amazing flavour, making it an exceptional prelude to the main course.

The butter was lovely and creamy, and the pairing worked really really well.

Tandoori Baked Hake, Coconut, Shallots, Wild Puffed Rice (n/a today normally £26)

For my main dish, I opted for the Tandoori Baked Hake—a decision I did not regret.

The presentation was an art in itself, showcasing the chef’s attention to detail.

The interplay of textures between the fish, rice, and sauce was a harmonious symphony in my mouth. Every bite was a journey of flavors that left no room for complaint.

The dish was an embodiment of culinary finesse, leaving me satiated and content, and a dish I would highly recommend!

The Dulse Chocolate Pave (n/a today normally £9.00)

But a meal is never complete without dessert, and I chose the chocolate dish to round off my culinary escapade.

The presentation was inviting, and the first spoonful was a revelation of textures.

The medley of different chocolate elements created an addictive indulgence that was almost impossible to resist.

It was the sweet note that sealed the deal on a remarkable dining experience.
