Bella Vita (Mosspark, Glasgow) 2024 : Review

The Visit

I was doing some work at my house since the renovations are still ongoing. I’m doing what I can and waiting for my friends to help with the remaining parts. Then, I received a message from my parents saying that they had booked a table at Bella Vita for dinner tonight. I was thrilled to go back since it’s one of my favorite Italian restaurants.

The Food

When I entered, I saw a few familiar faces, and it was nice to see the staff again. We were seated in a lovely booth, and just like last time, the staff brought out a small taster dish for us to nibble on.

As always, it was a mix of some of the starters, including the polo frito, which remains one of my favorite starters here and still tastes as good as always.

The Food

Ravio Aurora £12.95
Handmade pasta parcels stuffed with spinach & ricotta cheese, in a cream sauce, with tomatoes & parmesan

Because of the wee nibble starter, I decided to skip ordering a starter and jump straight to the main course. I wanted to try something new, so I ordered the ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese, as it sounded very appealing.

Upon arrival, it looked very interesting and had a nice aroma emanating from the tomato and cream sauce. I couldn’t wait to dig in and try it.

The pasta was perfectly cooked, with a fantastic balance of spinach and ricotta cheese inside each parcel. The sauce added an extra layer of flavor, making each bite truly enjoyable. It was a perfect dish.

After my little nibbles, the flavor was really good, and the portion size was perfect. I knew I could easily order a dessert after this.

Homemade Tiramisu £4.50

For my dessert, I instantly knew what I wanted before even looking at the menu: the homemade tiramisu.

I’ve had the tiramisu here before, and this time the presentation was slightly different. I’m not sure if it was just for me tonight from the staff, but it looked good, as you can see from the photos. Digging right in, it was perfect tiramisu.

It was moist, and creamy, with a lovely taste of coffee throughout. Everything blended well together to create an amazing texture and taste. This was one of the best tiramisus I’ve had in a very, very long time. If I hadn’t been feeling full at this point, I would have easily asked for another. Highly recommended if you love tiramisu. So if you come here, definitely check it out.

TGI Fridays – Braehead (2024) Review

Visit & Vibes

Today, I went to TGI Fridays with some friends.

I consistently have a pleasant experience here, but the food can be hit or miss depending on my order. So, I decided to try something different today to see how it turned out.

The Food

Lightly Spiced Shrimp £9.95
Cajun battered shrimp served with our Fridays™ Legendary Glaze

For my starter, I opted for the lightly spiced shrimp.

Upon arrival, it looked appealing and had a decent aroma. Trying the spiced shrimp on its own, I didn’t perceive much spiciness; however, it boasted a delightful flavour.

When I dipped it into the legendary glaze, it truly elevated the dish. Although the portion size was substantial for a starter, it lacked the expected spiciness.

Honestly, I didn’t detect even a hint of spice. Nevertheless, the standalone Cajun flavour was enjoyable, and dipping it into the glaze made a significant difference to the overall experience.

NEW! Fridays™ Glazed Chicken Burger £17.85
Lemon and garlic flame-grilled chicken breast coated in our Fridays® Legendary Glaze, Monterey Jack cheese, and crispy bacon. Served on a bed of lettuce, mayo, tomato, pickled red onions, and extra Fridays® Legendary Glaze on the side

I usually go for the beef burgers, but today, I decided to give their chicken burgers a try.

I’ve always enjoyed their beef burgers, so I hoped to have a similar experience with the chicken option.

When it arrived, presentation-wise, it was just okay. Before digging in, I noticed the chicken seemed quite dry. Despite my initial impression, I took a bite, and unfortunately, my expectation was spot-on—it was very dry.

The overall flavour was decent, but I felt a bit let down. Adding some of the accompanying glaze inside the bun did improve things, though it didn’t make it amazing, just better.

Overall, I was a little disappointed, mainly due to the overly dry chicken. I think I’ll stick to ordering beef burgers next time.

Final Thoughts…

Overall a hit-or-miss visit, one where I would have the starter again but the newly added chicken burger…nope! I would stick with a beef burger.

Bella Vita (Mosspark, Glasgow) 2024 : Review

The Visit

I’ve attempted to secure a booking at Bella Vita several times, but regrettably, they were consistently fully booked—a testament to their popularity.

Given their perpetual busyness, I recommend calling ahead to secure a reservation for your visit.

Today, I revisited with my parents, and once more, the staff was delightful. The bustling atmosphere added to the positive experience, and I eagerly anticipated savoring whatever dish I ultimately decided to order.

The Food

The delightful staff at Bella Vita treated us to an abundance of pre-meal delights. Notably, a sizable pizza-like dish caught our attention, featuring a delightful contrast: one half adorned with a light and tasty tomato sauce, while the other showcased a delectably salty bread.

Additionally, a sampler platter of various starters emerged, accompanied by house-made hummus paired with diced carrots. My mum praised it as the best she’s ever tasted. All of this unfolded before we even had a chance to peruse the menu and make our dining selections.

Each dish they brought out was incredibly flavorful, leaving no leftovers. Faced with the dilemma of choosing between two, three, or just one course, I opted to skip the starter, feeling a bit full. I dove into the main course, contemplating whether dessert would fit in afterward. Thanks for tuning in.

The Food

Penne Salsiccia e Pepperoni £12.50
Small quills with Italian sausage, onion, chilli & roasted peppers, finished with Napoli sauce

I opted for a change from my usual order of the amazing spaghetti carbonara and chose the Penne Sicilia e Pepperoni for tonight. Described as a delightful pasta dish, it features Italian sausage, onion, a hint of chili, and roasted peppers, and is finished with Napoli sauce.

Upon arrival, it not only looked appealing with its generous portion but also emitted a delightful aroma, showcasing hints of Italian sausage and peppers. It was now time to savor every bite.

The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the combination of sausage, roasted peppers, sauce, onions, etc., was truly exceptional.

The chili didn’t deliver a massive kick; instead, it provided a subtle background note that rounded off the dish. Each bite exploded with flavor, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish.

Overall, it was another fantastic visit to Bella Vita, solidifying its place as one of my favorite Italian restaurants.

As mentioned earlier, if you plan to check them out, it’s advisable to call ahead for a booking due to their consistent busyness—a positive indicator.
