Nandos (Silverburn Shopping Centre) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

I returned to Silverburn Shopping Centre with my friends, and this time, they chose Nando’s for a combined lunch and dinner.

Personally, I have mixed feelings, with a 50-50 stance.

While the food is enjoyable, I don’t find that big wow factor.

Nevertheless, I was open to giving them another chance.

The Food

Garlic Churrasco Burger £15.75
Two flame-grilled chicken thighs, pickled red onions, mixed salad leaves and Churrasco PERinaise. Served in the ultimate burger bun… our Garlic Bread.

Today, I opted for something newly added to their menu—the Garlic Churrasco Burger.

It features two flame-grilled chicken thighs, pickled red onions, mixed salad leaves, and churrasco PERinaise, served in a choice of a burger bun or garlic bread.

The enticing aroma was notable, with the delightful scent of garlic emanating from the buns and a subtle hint of the other ingredients.

In my initial bite, the garlic bread’s flavor emerged first, succeeded by the delectable tenderness of the perfectly cooked chicken, and then the remaining elements followed suit.

The sauce complemented the burger nicely, contributing a delightful flavor.

While it wasn’t an extraordinary chicken burger, it was undeniably enjoyable.

Overall, it’s a satisfactory burger—tasty and flawlessly prepared.

Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s (Dunfermline) 2023 : Review

About Jack O Bryans

Dunfermline is – perhaps – the last place one might expect to find a restaurant that brings together the beauty of Scotland’s natural larder with the richness of Asian or Iberian cuisine, but…

Tucked away beside the entrance to Pittencrieff Park stands Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s – a kitchen and bar that marries the finest Scottish produce with the flavours and fragrances of the world.

Visit & Vibes

Yip doing a second post as my main post was about the Festive Sunday Lunch which is amazing and you should check it out, but this post is about everything else I had… Yip as you guessed was also amazing!

The Drinks

While at Jack O’Neill’s for my invitation, I opted for a mocktail since I was the designated driver that day.

Passion Mocktail £6.00
PASSION FRUIT PURÉE, LIME JUICE, SODA

The mocktail that caught my attention was called “Passion,” reminiscent of a non-alcoholic porn star martini. Visually, it resembled a Pornstar cocktail and taste-wise, it was remarkably close—so close that I indulged in two.

I highly recommend trying it during your visit.

SPICED BASQUE CHEESECAKE £9.00
SPICED AUTUMN PRESERVE, SHORTBREAD CRUMBLE, MATRE LEAF. BRAMBLE SORBET

After enjoying a delightful Sunday festive lunch, I still had some room for a sweet treat to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Upon perusing the handmade desserts, I was drawn to the cheesecake, appreciating the implied care and attention in its preparation and presentation.

The arrival of the cheesecake showcased exceptional presentation, and upon tasting, I was genuinely impressed.

The cheesecake was perfectly light with a delightful flavour. Every element on the dish, whether savoured individually or combined, contributed to an amazing experience.

I can’t find any faults with it, and I highly recommend trying it for yourself.

Visit & Vibes

I was invited to check out these guys, to join them in trying their big festive Sunday lunch, and I couldn’t wait. I always enjoy exploring new places, and this one happened to be in an area I don’t frequent often. I was eager to experience the surroundings, explore the restaurant, and discover what they had to offer.

As soon as I stepped through the door, I was welcomed by a lovely, modern, and cosy vibe. Taking in the surroundings, I noticed the place was beautifully decorated. A friendly staff member then greeted me and escorted me to my table. The section where I was seated was equally cosy, warm, and well-decorated. I immediately felt relaxed, thinking that today’s invitation could turn out to be a truly enjoyable experience.

Before delving into what you’re eager to read about—the food—I’d like to mention that there is parking available approximately one minute away from the restaurant in a sizable car park. It operates on a pay-and-display system, so bring some coins just in case the machines aren’t working. However, I opted to use the app for payment, and everything went through smoothly.

The Food

Examining the menu for the big festive Sunday lunch, my initial impression was that £32 per person might be a bit expensive, but it all depends on what’s offered.

Setting that thought aside, I chose my preferences and eagerly anticipated savoring everything from the starter to the main course.

Every item on the menu sounded incredibly delicious, and I couldn’t wait to begin.

What I ordered…

Warm Bread & Dips
Sourdough & Todays House made dips

The warm bread and accompanying dips arrived first. The presentation was excellent, and today’s dips were particularly delicious. My preferred choice was the garlic aioli and mayonnaise. The bread was wonderfully fresh, and paired with the dips, it was a delightful combination. Fortunately, I saved some bread in anticipation of the patty, allowing me to savor it alongside the upcoming dish.

Smoked Duck
Smoked duck liver pate, Ice Wine Mulled Pears

I chose the smoked duck liver patty from the menu, being a huge patty fan. As it arrived, the presentation was impressive, and I eagerly anticipated trying it.

After spreading some of the delightful patty on the bread and taking a bite, I was amazed.

The patty was incredibly smooth, possessed a wonderful flavor, and was exceptionally light—quite different from the usual dense texture of many smooth patties.

Being a homemade creation, it maintained its smoothness and lightness, making every bite enjoyable. The addition of iced wine mulled pears elevated the flavor, taking it to a slightly higher level.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this dish and would undoubtedly order it again on my next visit.

Yorkshire Pudding
Served like down in’t Yorkshire with Truffle gravy.

What would a traditional Sunday dinner be without Yorkshire pudding?

The next dish on today’s menu was Yorkshire pudding, served as it is in Yorkshire, accompanied by truffle gravy.

Honestly, I’m not a massive Yorkshire pudding fan, I don’t mind it, it’s just not a dish I would go out of my way to order….but because it’s part of this meal, I couldn’t wait to try it.

Taking a bite of the Yorkshire pudding on its own, it was cooked to perfection—lovely, light, and fluffy.

The truffle gravy was truly impressive, adding a fantastic flavor.

I mixed it with some of the meat dishes that followed, and it created a wonderful accompaniment to everything on my plate. I thoroughly enjoyed these, and I would definitely go out of my way to order this again; that’s how nice it was.

Meat Tasting

Morcilla Black Pudding
caramelised onion & Pico’s Blue Cheese

Now onto the meat-tasting segment, all the dishes arrived simultaneously, resembling a tapas-style presentation.

As they were prepared, they were promptly served. Beginning with the more delicate Morcilla black pudding, accompanied by a caramelized onion and blue cheese sauce, I savoured the black pudding first.

The experience was impressive; the flavour was delightful without the usual heaviness often found in other black puddings. In some instances, I’ve encountered black pudding with an overpowering, intense taste. However, this one was pleasantly light with an appealing flavour.

Combining the black pudding with the sauce, especially the blue cheese, elevated the dish to another level.

As a devoted blue cheese enthusiast, this dish met all my expectations. It was a flawless culinary delight, one I would gladly indulge in repeatedly.

BARBECUED SPANISH SAUSAGES IN KILTS
MUSTARD & HONEY GLAZE

The subsequent dish on my tasting journey was the Spanish sausages in kilts with a mustard and honey glaze.

Upon arrival, it presented itself enticingly, and the aroma was exceptional. Being a fervent Spanish sausage enthusiast, I eagerly delved into it. The initial bite revealed flawlessly cooked elements, yet what set it apart was the exquisite flavor imparted by the mustard and honey glaze.

The mustard provided a subtle background hint, complemented by the similarly subtle honey glaze. This delicate balance worked exceptionally well, ensuring that neither overpowered the distinct Spanish sausage flavor. Unlike dishes where mustard dominates, leaving little room for other flavors, this was impeccably balanced.

The glaze enhanced the experience without detracting from the delightful Spanish sausage flavors.

I could easily have indulged in six servings of this remarkable dish. It was a culinary delight for me, and I highly, highly, highly recommend it.

Duck & Cherries
Roast Duck, Black Cherry Sauce

The subsequent dish featured duck and cherries. Personally, duck is a hit-and-miss choice, depending on my mood, but given its inclusion here, I was eager to assess its quality.

Trying a slice of duck on its own, I found it perfectly cooked with a delightful flavor. When paired with the black cherry sauce, the dish reached an exceptional level for me.

The combination of black cherry and duck flavors elevated it to a remarkable perfection.

The overall dish was outstanding, displaying an impeccable balance of flavors, with the black cherry sauce standing out as particularly amazing. From now on, whenever I crave duck, this sets the standard for me.

It’s another one of those must-try dishes, especially for avid duck enthusiasts. Exceptional doesn’t quite capture it – this is truly extraordinary.

Mini Turkey Tacos
FLOUR TORTILLAS, PICO DE GALO, LIME DRESSING & MOJO PICANTE

The next dish I explored from this exceptional selection was the mini turkey tacos. The presentation, consistent from start to finish, was remarkable.

Taking a bite was an incredibly refreshing experience. After savoring various delightful flavors, this one stood out due to the lime dressing and the harmonious elements within the dish, serving as a sort of palate cleanser. It was a remarkably tasty turkey taco, delicately layered with flavors that set it apart.

This dish provided a pleasant contrast to the others – while the preceding ones offered deep flavors, this was a welcome touch of sweetness. It served as a delightful addition to the table, and, once again, I find no fault with this dish, except for the fact that I could have easily indulged in more and more.

Crispy Chicken

Continuing through this delightful medley of dishes, I progressed to the crispy chicken – a chicken thigh with smoked paprika and cranberry. The aroma was delightful, reminiscent of traditional chicken dishes, but the addition of smoked paprika and cranberry elevated it to the next level for chicken. Once more, it was perfectly cooked, and the presentation was commendable.

This dish, again, proved to be a delectable and flavorful addition to the culinary experience.

The last dish among the meat tastings was the roast beef with a red onion salsa. Once more, take a moment to appreciate the presentation – it’s truly impressive. Consistently, from the initial bite to now, everything has been visually stunning.

The aromas and flavors have been consistently remarkable, and this dish was no exception.

It was flawlessly cooked, contributing to the overall enjoyment of the culinary journey. Once again, I find no faults, underscoring the exceptional skills of the chefs here.

What I choose…

Rooster Chips
Hand cut skin on chips, Sea Salt

Rooster Chips’ hand-cut skin-on chips, dusted with sea salt, offer a gourmet twist to a classic side. Visually appealing with their rustic appearance, these chips boast a perfect crunch and a rich flavour derived from rooster potatoes.

The sea salt seasoning complements the natural potato taste, creating a perfect balance. Rooster Chips elevate the basic chip into a great accompaniment to any dish.

Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned.

Patatas Bravas
Sauteed potatoes & piri piri sauce

Indulging in the culinary finesse of Patatas Bravas at this restaurant for a side is a dish worth savouring.

The sautéed potatoes are impeccably golden and tender, and perfectly cooked. The piri piri sauce, added a great hint of spice and zest, creating a very tasty dish.

Presented with restaurant-style precision, this dish captures the essence of Spanish cuisine.

Another dish I am very glad I tried and would easily order again.

Final Thoughts…

Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone at Jack O’Brien’s for the invitation and the exceptional service.

As you may have noticed, everything was flawless. I couldn’t find any faults in any of the dishes that were served. Each item was delicious, well-presented, and of perfect size, accompanied by a lovely aroma.

I truly cannot find any faults with today’s visit, and I highly recommend experiencing their grand festive Sunday lunch. I’m adding it to my list of top places to visit, so be sure to check it out.
