Charcoals Indian Restaurant – Take Away (Glasgow) : Review

Take Away: 28th May 2020

I have tried during lockdown to do more cooking at home rather than take away, but more recently I have had that urge for a few restaurants food that I have visited.

Charcoals

As you may know I have been to Charcoals many times, and during my college and University years it was probably every weekend with my best friend Chris.

Since I started blogging I had to visit different restaurants, so you the reader and my tastebuds get a little variety.

A while ago a few friends visited Charcoals and thought it was at that point just so so, then a few other friends said the same……..so I visited to see what they were talking about as they loved here as much as me.

At that point the food was still good, but was missing the old Charcoals flavour I knew……BUT that has all changed due to this takeaway.

Starter

Aloo Chana Poori £4.95

Aloo Chana Poori

This was actually my fiancee’s starter but due to the amount we ordered we decided to share everything, so we could try everything.

This was very nice, there was a nice subtle kick from the spices and the flavours were booming.

This was a good choice, and a good dish to start with.

Vegetable Pakora £3.25

Vegetable Pakora

I am getting addicted to vegetable pakora, and the dips so I had to get some tonight.

The batter was crispy and the flavours were spot on, and with the little dip you get with it mmmmm so so so so good.

Just typing this review and I can taste this again…..

Main Course :

Yup we were still hungry for more, and if the mains were as good as our starters we were in for a really good treat.

Peshwari Nan £3.50

Peshwari Nan

For those that dont know me I have a sweet tooth, and the Peshwari Nan is my fan nan. I have had many of these from different restaurants and its always either a hit or mis….. and this one today was a perfect hit!

The nan was nice and soft, and the flavour was not overpowering or too much in the background it was perfect!

Butter Chicken £9.95 (excluding rice)

butter chicken

I used to be a Korma guy, don’t get me wrong I still am but more recently Butter chicken has been getting ordered more and more. (I have even tried making it a home)

The chicken was mega tender, the sauce had a really nice flavour and a very very subtle kick which made a really good mouthful.

Chicken Biryani £11.95

My fiancee ordered this for her main, but as I said at the start we were trying everything.

I never order these types of dishes, as I like my Kormas etc but I was really pleasantly surprised at how nice this was.

The sauce had a kick, and worked well with the rice and the chicken.

I am glad I tried it and enjoyed it, but I will stick with my normal choices.

CHARCOALS IS BACK!!!!

This was the old Charcoals I remembered, everything packed with flavour and so so good!

We had so much left over from the dinner, we had the remainder for lunch the next day and again it tasted so good.

The food was fresh, tasty, nice spices, nice kicks etc and I am looking forward to ordering or visiting Charcoals again.

I am happy to say Charcoals is now back on my Top Spot page!
