Joia Italian Restaurant and Bar (West End, Glasgow) 2023 : Review

Visit & Vibes

I have been to Joia before and really loved the food, presentation and flavours so I couldn’t wait to visit again.

I have tried to visit a few times but I was never really in the area or if I was with friends they fancied a different style of food….but tonight I finally visited them again.

The Food

Tonight I spotted the did a 3-course menu and I thought let’s try that and see whats its like.

Set Menu 3 courses at £25.95

I CALAMARI FRITTI (£2 supplement)
Deep Fried Squids, Prawns Bisque Emulsion

On arrival this looked really good, I loved the touch of the newspaper cone. This reminded me of getting this and walking around Venice, as this is street food over there.

Now it was time to eat.

I tried some squid on its own, and it was perfectly cooked and had a really good flavour. I then tried it with the dip and mmm this enhanced what was already a great flavour.

This was a great starter and I enjoyed it very much from start to finish.

IL RISOTTO ZUCCA
Carnaroli Rice, Butternut squash, Sage, Goat Cheese

Tonight I wanted to pick something I wouldn’t really order, to force myself to try something different and this dish stood out for me.

When it arrived the presentation was really nice, and the aroma was very good.

The rice was perfectly cooked, and the mix of the butternut squash with hints of goat’s cheese was a great touch. Just having the goat’s cheese every now and then come through just made this dish a very enjoyable one.

The flavour combination was perfect, and I could easily have this dish again. I am very glad I gave this dish a chance, and recommend you try it if you visit Joia.

IL TIRAMISO

There is always room for something sweet, and tonight I had to check their Tiramiso out.

On arrival, you get a good slice, and the aroma was mmmmm so good.

Time to dig in and enjoy.

This was just as it looks, sweet, moist and packed with a lovely coffee flavour.

A perfect end to a great meal.

Final Thoughts…

This was a great meal deal, everything was a great portion size, everything packed with flavour and as I said I enjoyed each dish from start to finish.

Joia will remain on my top restaurants to visit list, so if you haven’t checked them out what are you waiting for?
