W: Miller & Carter Glasgow
Visit : 28 May 2016
A Miller & Carter recently opened in Glasgow, and I’ve been hearing great things about it ever since. They specialize in steaks, which aren’t usually my preference, but I was pleased to see they offer burgers, which are right up my alley.
I tried to visit a couple of weeks ago, but with a three-hour wait, I decided to hold off. I eventually learned my lesson and booked a table online to ensure I’d get a spot. The interior is stunning, very smart, modern, and spacious. Upon arrival, the staff were incredibly welcoming and showed us to our table immediately. Our waiter was excellent, taking the time to introduce himself and walk us through the menu.
Starters :
For my starter I ordered Dusted Calamari.

I have to say this was very nice, and probably the best Calamai I have had so far in any Glasgow restaurant. The portion size was perfect and yes I would order this again or recommend it.
Mains :
For my main, I ordered the bacon and cheese steak burger with sweet potato fries.

Overall, I was a little disappointed with my meal. While the burger was decent, it lacked depth, and the flavour of the bacon completely overpowered the beef. Don’t get me wrong, it was a pleasant enough dish, but it just felt like it was missing that “wow” factor. It’s worth noting that this is a steakhouse, after all!
My friend ordered the T-Bone, which looked fantastic. Even as someone who isn’t usually a steak fan, I tried a small bite and was impressed; it was good enough that I’d actually consider ordering it myself next time.
Dessert :
For my last course, I ordered the Crème brûlée.

I’ve always been a fan of Crème Brûlée, and this one was lovely. As you can see from the photo, it came topped with two strawberries; to be honest, they weren’t really necessary as the dish is perfect on its own. If I’m being truly fussy, I would have liked the sugar crust to be a little harder, but overall, it was a very enjoyable dessert.
My final part of the meal was an After Eight cocktail which was amazing, that’s all I will say and yes I would have more of these anytime.

Overall :
Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience. While the burger was a bit of a letdown, it’s important to remember that this is a steakhouse, and their focus lies elsewhere. I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed the T-Bone steak; given my history of disliking steak, that is high praise indeed.
Would I go back? Probably! I’d definitely order the T-Bone again, though I might need to save up a bit before my next visit.
