About 2 weeks ago I got a little email in my inbox to come along to CTR tonight, to try some food and drinks from the new menu….how could I refuse? plus this place was on my list for a while and now I would finally visit.
On entering you are instantly hit with a new hip pub/restaurant, and looking around you will see a lot of very cool artwork all over the walls (see more on my instagram)
CTR do a very wide range of craft beers, but the menu is always changing so you are sure to find many new ones you will love.
Tonight I was invited to come along as try some samples from a new menu, and also to try some beers…how could anyone say no to that plus as I said its been on my list to try so a win win for me.
The Food…
If you have never been here before, the food here at Crossing the Rubicon is tapas style. My best advice and the staffs is to order 2 or 3 dishes, as one wont be enough….unless your not mega hungry.
Due to the amount of samples and all the descriptions, I have attached the menu so you can see what we got.
From the big long list, it was served as a big platter on the table. I was sitting with 4 other people, so we all got to try one item each.
The only one I didn’t try was the lettuce one, as it contained nuts which I am allergic to.
The rest was very nice, my favourite from the above was the Mumbi Sandwich (3rd from the left). This I would have loved to have on a bigger scale, maybe on my next visit.
Once we all went through the above platter, we were handed out some more dishes. I think I forgot to take a few photos, due to just enjoying eating….bad food blogger I know :p
The above is the Masala Chips and the Chana Chat Taco, both of these were very nice and would have again.
One of the last samples was the The Rubicon Frankie, unfortunately no photo again (shame on me) but it was basically a burrito filling in a nice wrap. This was very good, so the Mumbi Sandwich and the Frankie I cant wait to try again but the full sized dishes.
The beers…
I tried these beers tonight one was very light (left) and the other a little heavier. For me I found it very hard to pick a favourite, but if I really had to I would have to choose the Magic Porridge Oatmeal Stout.
Overall
Overall the night went very well, there was a good turn out and everyone seemed to enjoy the food.
The food for me was very nice, and I found my two favourite which I aim to have again next visit.
I would like to thank Crossing the Rubicon for my invite, and give a big hi to Max who tonight gave me very lovely comments and put a massive smile on my face.
See you soon!
