Visit & Vibes
I recently noticed that a restaurant I visited a while ago had opened a sister venue, and it instantly went straight onto my must-visit list.
I had previously dined at 111 by Modou in Glasgow, and I absolutely loved it. Everything about it was perfect — the atmosphere, the service, and of course, the food. So as soon as I heard about this new opening, I set a date and made plans to check out its sister restaurant.

From the moment we arrived, it felt familiar in the best way. The space had that same cosy, intimate vibe, and we were warmly welcomed before being shown to our table. As the menus were placed in front of us, I couldn’t help but feel a real sense of excitement — I had been looking forward to trying this one.

The Food
MUSHROOM VELOUTÉ – BRIOCHE SOLDIERS – MUSHROOM PARFAIT – TRUFFLE

The first dish arrived and, visually, it looked beautiful. Instantly, the aroma from the mushroom velouté was absolutely incredible.
I decided to start with the mushroom velouté, and all I can say is wow! it did not disappoint. Every spoonful was a delight, and I completely fell in love with it. It was so good that I could easily have eaten many more bowls. The flavour was outstanding, that’s honestly how good it was.
Next, I moved on to the other part of the first course, and just like the velouté, it was equally impressive. Creamy, packed with flavour, and full of contrasting textures, each bite felt perfectly balanced.
Overall, the first course was absolutely outstanding, and it left me extremely excited to see and taste the remaining courses.

NICO’S HAM HOUGH ‘SANDWICH’ – AGED CHEDDAR – WATERCRESS

Just like the first course, the presentation on arrival was beautiful. Once again, the aroma coming from the dish was incredible.
For my first bite, I made sure to get a little bit of everything so I could experience all the flavours together. The ham was lovely and tender, packed with flavour, and paired perfectly with the other elements on the plate. It was another absolutely outstanding course.
From start to finish, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Honestly, if this was anything to go by, I knew the rest of the lunch was going to be something really special.

FRESH PICI PASTA – RAGÙ – PANGRATTATO – AGED PARMESAN

The third dish arrived, and it was the pasta course. Visually, it looked beautiful, and I couldn’t wait to taste it.
This was a really lovely ragu pasta, and I enjoyed it from start to finish. However, when comparing the punch of flavours, this one for me personally, didn’t quite have the same impact as the first two courses. That said, it was still a very enjoyable and well-executed ragu dish.

SALMON – GLAZED CARRET – HAZELNUT & CARROT TOP PESTO – BUTERMILK AND DILL

Course four was the fish dish, salmon, and once again, just like the first and second courses, the presentation was beautiful.
I tried the salmon on its own first, and it was perfectly cooked, lovely and flaky, with a really delicious flavour.
I then had a bite with a little bit of everything on the plate, and wow, the combination of flavours worked perfectly. You could taste each individual element, yet they blended together beautifully. Nothing overpowered anything else; every component complemented the others, making it a truly tasty dish.
I especially loved the glazed carrot. I’m not sure what it was glazed in, but it was absolutely delicious. I’m not usually a carrot person, but this one completely won me over.

PORK CHEEK – CAVORO NERO – PENANG SAUCE – PLUM

When this course arrived, it was a very vibrant dish, thanks to the bright sauce. Once again, the presentation was beautiful, and it had a wonderful aroma.
I started by trying the pork cheek on its own. It was perfectly cooked, tender, full of flavour, and absolutely delicious. I then went in for the perfect bite, making sure to get a little bit of everything on the fork, and once again, wow. The combination of flavours worked beautifully, and it was truly delicious.
I thoroughly enjoyed this dish from start to finish.

BAKED CHEESECAKE – LEMON PESSET – CRUMBLE

The final course of the tasting menu was dessert, a baked cheesecake.
On arrival, it looked beautiful, and from the very first bite, it was exactly what I had hoped for. It was full of flavour, yet at the same time wonderfully light.
It was the perfect way to end the tasting menu, something sweet, satisfying, and enjoyable from start to finish.

Final Thoughts…
Overall, this tasting menu was absolutely amazing from start to finish. My favourite course was the first, closely followed by the second, those two were the real standout dishes for me.
The ragu pasta would probably come last out of all the courses, simply because the others delivered such a wonderful punch of flavour that this one didn’t quite match. That said, it’s purely a matter of personal taste, as it was still a really lovely dish in its own right.
I honestly can’t recommend this tasting menu enough. From beginning to end, it was an incredible experience, and I can’t wait to go back. If you’ve been wondering what it’s like and have been putting off booking, take this as your sign, go and book it now. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.
