About Villa Cardea Event
When life gives you lemons… do as the Italians do and make a Limoncello spritz!
Villa Cardea’s authentic limoncello liqueur has just landed in Morrison’s nationwide this
month as demand for the Italian summer staple – and the Limoncello Spritz – continues to
soar.
To mark the occasion, the Italian liqueur producer has unveiled two refreshing serves to
transport the nation’s drinkers to the lush lemon groves of Italy and help them enjoy a little
slice of La Dolce Vita!
Produced in Bergamo in Northern Italy, Villa Cardea’s traditional Limoncello is created using
a unique, natural recipe which infuses the finest lemon peel from Sicily. Its intense yet
balanced taste is imbued with Italy’s sun-soaked lemon groves and can be enjoyed on its
own chilled, or in a simple serve.
And there’s no more popular serve this summer than the Limoncello Spritz: a favourite on
UK bar menus up and down the country and a refreshing mix to enjoy with friends and
The Lemoncello Event
I was recently invited to a Limoncello Night held at Sannio Italian Restaurant in Glasgow.
I have a massive love for limoncello, having been to Italy over 30 times. I always enjoy trying it there—usually after a meal—but tonight’s event was all about discovering new ways to enjoy this wonderful drink.
On arrival, we were welcomed with a Limoncello Spritz. Now, this was something I had never tried—or even thought about trying before—but it turned out to be a fantastic way to start the evening. It was incredibly refreshing, with that classic limoncello flavour shining through beautifully.
I’ll include the recipe for the Limoncello Spritz at the end of this blog post—so if that’s already got your taste buds tingling, make sure to keep reading to find out more about the event and how to make this lovely drink at home.

The event began with an introduction to the brand, which I found really interesting. We also learned about the two types of limoncello they produce. We were told that we’d be sampling both of these during the meal, similar to a wine pairing, but instead of wine, it would be this wonderful limoncello. I was genuinely excited and couldn’t wait to taste how each one paired with the dishes being served that evening.

We were already seated at our tables, and in front of us was the menu for the evening. For my main, I ordered the penne pasta with spicy Italian sausage, followed by the Tiramisù Classico for dessert.
During the main course, we had any remaining Limoncello Spritz, as well as the first of the two types of limoncello this brand produces.
At first, it felt a bit unusual to have limoncello alongside my main dish, as I’m used to enjoying it at the end of a meal. But wow—it actually paired incredibly well with the pasta. It’s now something I’d genuinely consider doing at home with this limoncello.
Next came dessert, and with it, the second type of limoncello. This one was slightly stronger and darker in colour. I tasted it on its own and—wow—so, so good. The flavour was amazing, and although it felt a little strange pairing it with tiramisù, it actually worked really well.
I’m so glad I had the chance to experience this tonight—it’s completely changed the way I think about when and how to enjoy this kind of liqueur.
Final Thoughts…
Overall, tonight was a wonderful learning and tasting experience, and I’m really glad I get to share it with you. If you’re a limoncello fan, I hope this has inspired you to think differently about how and when you enjoy it—maybe even pairing it with your Italian dishes the next time you cook pasta at home.
If you’d like to try this brand’s limoncello, check your local supermarket—or head to their website, which I’ll link below, in case you’d like to order online. I highly recommend trying this style of pairing. Trust me, it could become your new favourite thing to do.
And as promised, here’s the recipe from them for the Limoncello Spritz:
