Chaakoo Bombay Café (Glasgow, West End) 2025 : Review

Visit & Vibes

Tonight, I was going to see a movie with a friend, and he chose for us to eat here, this time in the West End of Glasgow.

I had never been to this branch before, so I was looking forward to checking it out—both to see what it looked like inside and to find out if the food differed from their Glasgow city centre location.

The interior has been nicely designed, following a similar theme to the city centre branch. The staff were very pleasant, and the service was excellent.

The Food

Menu Choice★★★★★

MACHALI £7.55
Fish pakora in a coriander & green chilli batter.

For my first dish, I ordered the Machali, which is a fish pakora.

When it arrived, the presentation was fine, and the aroma was absolutely mouthwatering.

I took my first bite without any sauce or extras, and wow! It was amazing. Flaky, full of flavour, and the batter was spot on. Everything about this dish was perfect.

I then tried it with the accompanying sauce, which was nice, but honestly, it didn’t enhance the already fantastic flavour. So I enjoyed the rest without the sauce. I could’ve easily had another two or even three portions of this—it was that good. Highly recommended if you visit!

CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA £8.55
Tandoor chicken tikka with a mixed spice, tomatoes, coriander & creamy yoghurt sauce.

My second dish was Chicken Tikka Masala.

Again, the presentation was nice. If I’m being a bit fussy, I’d say there was a little too much coriander on top. I’m not a huge fan of coriander, and there was just a bit more than I’d like.

That said, the first bite blew me away, packed with flavour, the chicken was perfectly cooked, tender, and delicious. Putting the coriander aside, this was a really tasty dish, and I’m glad I chose it tonight.

PESHWIRI NAAN £4.55

As a side, I went for a Peshwari Naan.

I’m a big fan of this style of naan, it’s sweet and usually works really well with curries. This one was a generous portion, easily shareable.

It was soft, fluffy, super tasty, and had a lovely sweet flavour that paired beautifully with my curry.

Final Thoughts…

Overall, it was a great visit.

Everything I had was full of flavour and perfectly cooked. For me, the standout dish was definitely the fish pakora, I’d happily order that again, whether at this branch or another.
