The Original Small Beer Witbier 2023 : Review

About The Brewery

We’re reinvigorating a lost tradition for the people who do it all. Those who think big for their tomorrow, who seek quality of ingredients and conversation, who challenge the existing and embrace innovation. For us, big thinking means pioneering a new process of brewing. That’s why we’ve built a bespoke brewing kit to exclusively produce lower alcohol beer – up to 2.8% ABV – the world’s first dedicated small beer brewery.

About The Beer

Inspired by Belgian White Beer, we’ve used the finest British wheat as our base paired with sun-kissed Spanish Orange peels and Sussex-grown coriander seeds to create our first-ever Small Batch release. It’s a limited edition, so don’t miss out!

  • Taste: Tangy bitter orange with floral coriander seed
  • Size: Available as 6x330ml cans or 24x330ml cans
  • Session strength: Crafted at 2.5% ABV
  • Dietary: Suitable for vegans

The Delivery

The guys at the Original Small Beer brewery asked if I would like to try their first batch of one of their beers.

I love trying new beers and finding new companies plus if it’s good sharing it with everyone to order/try for themself.

The package arrived and I couldn’t wait to open it and check out the beer.

This arrived in perfect condition and on opening I was hit with a lovely aroma, and that’s when I noticed the wee bag.

I had a look at the card that came with it, and it described the beer which sounded very good.

The little bag that was included in the box on the opening had the grains etc that I am guessing they used in the brewing, this was such a great wee addition.

Time to Taste

We have been getting great weather recently, so I put a can in to chill…once chilled cracked it open and sat out in the sun.

Firstly let’s look at the can, instantly this gave me a nice summer fresh beer vibe…I couldn’t wait to chill it and have a glass.

The beer for me had notes of a very light orange aroma, then I took a sip.

The first taste I got was a nice light orange flavour, a little fiz which was nice rounding off with a nice refreshing slightly orange aftertaste.

For a light beer, this was a very good beer!

I have had a few light beers in the past and always found them very watery but this was nothing like that it was much much nicer!

I can’t fault this beer in any way, the can design was nice, the notes were good, and the most important part the taste was really good and very refreshing.

I highly recommend you check these guys out, and I am adding this to my top products page as it’s a very very good low-alcohol beer.
