I was recently invited to the new location of the much-loved Scran, now called Scran & Roadie.

You might remember their original spot first on Alexandra Parade, then London Road, but this new venue is bigger, and they’re now serving New York-style pizza.

At tonight’s pre-lunch event, we were told that a selection of dishes would be brought around the table, and it was entirely up to us whether to accept them or pass. I was feeling quite hungry, so I thought, “Whatever comes my way, I’m saying yes!”

The first dish to arrive was a beautifully presented burrata. It was incredibly creamy with a soft, delicate centre that practically melted as soon as it touched the tongue. Topped with Pumpkin seeds, Sunflower seeds and Sesame seeds, it was fresh, rich, and absolutely divine — the kind of dish that sets the tone for a perfect meal.

I have to admit, this was my very first time trying this, and it’s something I could easily have again and again, It was absolutely lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed this first dish that was brought to me and knew right away the evening was off to a great start.

Next up was a classic Caesar salad. It was nicely presented and tasted just as you’d hope—fresh, crisp, and full of flavour. The croutons were golden and crunchy, and the crispy bread on the side was a great touch. Simple, yet delicious.

Then came the real stars of the night—three different types of pizza. I’ve got to say, every single one of them was a winner. The bases were perfectly thin and crisp, the toppings were generous, and each pizza was bursting with flavour. If someone had offered me more pizza that night, I would’ve said yes in a heartbeat.

I did spot a few other tables being served a wider variety of dishes, and I have to admit—I was a little jealous! Everything looked so good, and it only made me more determined to return soon and try the rest.

Final Thoughts…

Overall, this looks like it’s going to be an exciting new venture for the team at this location. It’s in a fantastic spot, with a lovely outdoor area for those rare sunny days, and the inside has a cosy, relaxed vibe that makes you feel right at home. On top of that, every single member of staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely.
