After catching a movie, I popped into Tropical Café for a light bite. I’ve only ever been in for the monthly Rum Club before and sampled the event food… but tonight it was time to properly try the menu!⁣

Tonight, since I wasn’t very hungry, I decided to try two of their starters instead of a full meal.

The first one I chose sounded really interesting, so I went for it.

When it arrived, I was impressed by the portion size, and the aroma from the sauce was amazing. I took my first bite — wow! It was packed with flavour.

The dough balls had a lovely crispness to them, and even without the sauce, they tasted great. But with the sauce, it took things to a whole new level.

I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something different tonight. I could have easily eaten more and more of these — they were that good! I highly recommend giving them a try. If you do, let me know what you think.

Fish Cakes with Jerk Mayo £6.95

The second dish I tried was the fish cakes with jerk mayo.

I’m a big fan of fish cakes, so I was curious to see how they made them here. When the dish arrived, the presentation wasn’t quite what I expected—it didn’t look like your typical fish cake—but the aroma was fantastic.

I took a bite, and once again, it was absolutely delicious. The coating was perfectly crispy—just the right amount without being too much—and the flavour of the cod was spot on. From that very first bite, I was impressed.

Then I added a bit of the jerk mayo for my second bite, and wow—this really took the flavour to the next level. It was so good!

I’m genuinely glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something different from what I’d usually order. Out of the two starters tonight, this one was definitely my favourite. I could have easily eaten more of it! Highly recommended if you visit here.

Tonight was a great experience. The atmosphere here is always fantastic, and the staff are consistently friendly and welcoming. I finally got to try the food, and it didn’t disappoint—it was absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes.
