I had this place on my list for a while, and I was finally getting the chance to check it out as I was meeting two friends for dinner.

I had always heard two things about it—either it was just okay or absolutely amazing—so I was really looking forward to seeing for myself.

Thai Calamari £8.95
Lightly battered squid with onion, pepper, garlic, crispy onion and fresh chilli. Served with sweet chilli sauce.

For my starter, I opted for the Thai calamari. I’m a big calamari fan, and since I’ve been trying to eat more fish recently, I thought, why not give this a try?

When it arrived, the presentation was okay—a generous portion—and I couldn’t wait to dig in.

The calamari was perfectly cooked, with a crispy batter, though not overly crunchy. However, the flavor itself didn’t stand out. Once I dipped it in the sweet chili sauce, though, it made a huge difference. The sauce added a punch of flavor and complemented the calamari really well.

Overall, I’ve had better calamari. This one definitely needed the sauce, but as a whole, it was a nice starter.

Panaeng Curry £13.95
Lovely mild curry mixed with your choice above, coconut cream, green beans, red peppers and kaffir lime leaves.

For my main, I decided to go for the Panaeng Chicken Curry, as I hadn’t had a curry in a long time. When it arrived, the presentation was great, and the aroma was just as inviting. I chose rice as my side to go with it.

From the first bite, the sauce was absolutely amazing—rich, full of flavor, and beautifully creamy, with just a very mild kick. The chicken was perfectly cooked and paired really well with the sauce.

Overall, I really enjoyed this dish from start to finish. I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone tonight, as I usually stick to similar dishes. This is definitely something I’d order again.

Final Thoughts…

Overall, tonight was a lovely evening, and it was great to catch up with friends. The service was good, and the food was enjoyable. While I wasn’t blown away—the starter was just okay—the main was much better. That said, it was still a nice night.
