Swadish (Glasgow) 2025 : Review

Visit & Vibes

I recently returned to Swadish with some friends. Two of them had never tried Indian cuisine before, and this was chosen as their introduction. It had been a while since my last visit, so I was really excited to go back. I was eager for the meal ahead and to see their reactions.

The interior was still beautifully designed, with a cozy vibe, and the staff, as always, were warm and welcoming. We were all looking forward to ordering our meal and enjoying the rest of the evening.

The Food

CRISPY KEKDA £15.00
Soft-shell crab, pepper, garlic, pickled papaya, samphire, tomato coconut chutney

I’ve ordered this dish many, many times, simply because it’s just that good.

On arrival, the presentation was, as always, amazing, and I couldn’t wait to dig in and remind myself how delicious this dish is.

Taking a bite of the crab on its own, the flavor and texture were incredible—I was a happy guy tonight. When I took a bite with all the elements combined, the flavor was exceptional. You could distinctly taste each individual component, and when combined, it was even more amazing—a perfect bite from start to finish. This is, and probably always will be, my favorite starter here.

If you’re a fan of crab, I highly recommend you try this. You won’t be disappointed.

GOAN MONKFISH £24.00
Star anise, black peppercorns, lime leaves, tamarind, coconut

Another dish I’ve ordered in the past and really enjoyed was the monkfish. Since it had been a while and I was here with friends tonight, I decided to order it again.

When it arrived, the presentation was excellent, and the aroma was incredible. I paired it with a side of rice and couldn’t wait to dig in.

Taking a bite of the monkfish on its own, it was perfectly cooked—extremely tender and packed with amazing flavor. For me, this is another flawless dish and one of my favorites, which will be hard to beat.

From start to finish, I loved every mouthful. The flavors were incredible, and I could have easily eaten more. It was super tasty, full of flavor, and just an outstanding dish.

MANGO PESHWARI NAAN £5.50

The Mango Peshwari Naan is one of my favourites. I have a sweet tooth, and I find it pairs perfectly with most dishes I order. Even on its own, it’s always delicious. The presentation was appealing, and with the first bite, I could tell it was cooked to perfection. The subtle sweetness came through nicely, making it really enjoyable. It complemented my main dish well, and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.

CHEF’S CHILDHOOD FAVOURITE PETIT FOURS £10
* Coconut Burfi (An Indian Fudge)
* Peda (Caramelised Fudge)
* Kaju Burfi (Cashew nut Fudge)
* Til ke Ladoo (Sesame And Jaggery Ball)

The last time I was here, I tried a new dessert, the petit fours, and I had to have it again tonight.

The presentation on arrival was excellent, and this was the perfect way to end the meal, as each sweet was the ideal size to finish it off.

They were all really tasty, and as a big fan of Indian sweets, I enjoyed every single one. As I said, it was the perfect way to end the evening.

Final Thoughts…

Overall, it was great to be back. Swadish is one of my favorite Indian restaurants—you get amazing service, excellent high-quality food, incredible presentation, and I always leave thinking, “I can’t wait to come back.”

The friends I was with, who hadn’t tried Indian food before, loved every dish they ordered and even sampled from ours. They really enjoyed the restaurant, and we all had an amazing time, filled with great food, conversations, and laughs.

Swadish is not only one of my favorite Indian restaurants but also on my list of top restaurants, and it’s staying there. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend checking them out—I promise you won’t be disappointed, no matter what you order or your overall experience.
