Visit & Vibes
I was recently invited to Dhoom in Dunfermline, where the menu has changed from the Chennai Experience to the Punjab Experience.
The last time I visited, it was a fantastic experience, and I had been meaning to return. Unfortunately, life got in the way, so when I received this invite, I couldn’t say no—I was excited to try the new Punjab Experience.

If you’ve never been here before, they offer a 10-course Punjab taster menu. You start with pre-starters, followed by a selection of starters, and then you choose a main course to complete your culinary journey. Looking at tonight’s menu, I couldn’t wait to try many of these dishes.
About Dhoom

From the moment you enter, you’ll feel the energy of bustling markets, the aroma of sizzling tandoors, and the colors of India’s rich heritage. “We are delighted to present our latest tasting menu inspired by the incredible Punjab region, which once again offers our customers the most authentic and beloved flavours of the region,” said Dhoom Chef/Proprietor Prasad.
“We’ve crafted this new menu with the finest ingredients, which often are imported from my travels to India, using traditional techniques passed down through the generations. The Food
| Menu Choice | ★★★★★ |
After exploring the rich and colourful taste sensations and flavours of some eleven different regions of India, Dhoom Indian Streatery & Bar in Dunfermline turns its attention to its twelfth, and most soul-stirring culinary journey yet – the food of the Punjab region.
Meaning “the land of five waters”, Punjab, situated in the NW of India, derives its name from five rivers – the Ravi, Beas, Chenab, Sutlej, and Jhelum.
The Food Journey Begins….
The food journey began with soup (Dal Panchranga) and a potato dish (Aloo Tuk) prepared in a unique way. The soups were absolutely amazing—I could have easily had more! As for the potato, the coating and sauce were absolutely delicious. I would have loved a second helping.

Next, it was time for the starters. The first two to arrive were the KESARIYA MALAI PANEER dish and a AMRITSARI FISH FRY dish.
The paneer was the best I’ve had anywhere—the flavors were outstanding. If you’re a fan of paneer, I highly recommend trying this dish—it’s truly stunning. The fish dish, too, was out of this world. The flavors were so incredible that I could have easily eaten more and more—that’s how good it was.

Then came the THELEWAALE CHANA CHAAT and the PUNJABI MAKHANI KUKKAD. The Chana Chaat was beautifully presented, and the chickpea flavors were fantastic—a perfect balance of spices. The chicken curry, though, was something else entirely. The chicken breast was incredibly tender, and the sauce had an amazing depth of flavor. Again, this was a dish I could have happily had more and more of.

The final two starters were the NAVRATAN VEG KEBAB and the SAAG GOSHT. The lamb, like everything else tonight, was perfectly cooked and tender, pairing wonderfully with the spinach—super tasty! The veg kebab dish was equally amazing and a great way to finish the starters.
Next came a palate cleanser, which was frozen mango served in a small pot—a perfect and refreshing end to the starter course.

Overall, the starters were amazing from beginning to end. The presentation was impeccable, and each dish was cooked perfectly. For me, the standout dishes were the chicken curry and the fish—they were unbelievably tasty. But honestly, everything on this menu was fantastic, and I couldn’t wait to move on to the main course.
Now on to the main dish…

For my main, I ordered the Chef Prasad Dhaba Chicken. According to the menu, it came with pilau rice, Indian bread, and some masala chips.
When the dish arrived, the aroma was incredible. After taking some photos, I plated up and took my first bite of the chicken—and wow! It was another outstanding dish. The flavors were amazing. Although the menu mentioned it was spicy, I didn’t find it too spicy, which was a relief since I’m not great with heat. Instead, it was packed with flavor.
Combining all the elements together, this was an incredible main dish. I could have easily eaten much more—that’s how good it was!
Final Thoughts…
Firstly, a massive thank you to the team tonight for inviting me, and huge compliments—or should I say massive compliments—to the chefs!
My meal, or rather my journey through Punjab’s incredible flavors, was amazing from start to finish. There wasn’t a single dish I didn’t enjoy. Yes, I had a few standout favorites, but honestly, everything was absolutely fantastic, just like my previous visit. I can’t wait to go back, and this time, I’m definitely going to make sure I don’t miss out!
If you’ve never been here, it’s absolutely worth the drive. And if you live nearby, you need to check it out. The value for money is fantastic, and this restaurant remains one of my top places to visit.
If you decide to try their incredible tasting menu, let me know your thoughts in the comments—and who knows, you might even see me there soon!
