VISITED

Visit & Vibes
Recently, I took a drive out to Livingston Designer Outlet to pick up a few things for my house. However, upon arriving, I decided to grab some lunch first.
I don’t visit the outlet very often, but since my last trip, I noticed that many new, appealing shops have opened. It felt like a good time to explore the food options as well.
I came across Café Bar 1962 and thought I’d give it a try. Just before going in, I spotted their festive flavours menu, and one of the dishes really caught my eye, so I knew I had to check it out.

Loaded Chips £14.80
Topped with cheese, chipolatas, haggis, cranberry and gravy

Upon entering, the place had a lovely, cosy vibe. It was quite busy, and as I sat down, I couldn’t wait to place my order—I was really hungry.
I decided to go for the loaded chips, which were topped with cheese, haggis, cranberry, and gravy.
When the dish arrived, the portion size was very generous, and the presentation looked great. Although I noticed there was a bit less gravy than expected, I didn’t mind, as what was in front of me looked perfect for today’s visit.
I started with the fries, which had a nice recovery of melted cheese. The skinny fries were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of crispiness—a win for me. Next, I tried a combination of everything, and as expected, it was packed with flavour and absolutely delicious.
This was a very filling lunch, as you might imagine. The haggis was really nice and paired well with the other ingredients. Each bite was full of flavour when combining everything together.
If you’re a fan of loaded chips, I recommend trying them out before they take them off the menu. It’s part of their festive treats, priced at £14.80, which might sound like a lot, but the portion size and generous toppings make it worth it.

Final Thoughts…
During today’s visit, I discovered a new spot, which is always exciting, and my lunch, as I mentioned, was both filling and delicious.
The service was good, and I particularly liked that they had an open kitchen, allowing you to watch the food being prepared—something I’m always a fan of.
Overall, it was a great visit with a satisfying and tasty lunch. If you get the chance to check it out, let me know whether you try this dish or another option from their festive flavours menu before it ends!
