Charcoals (Glasgow) 2024 : Review

Visit & Vibes

After a drive to Firkin Point and the Falls of Falloch, I went with some friends to Charcoals for dinner. I’ve been here many times, and it’s one of my favourite places for Indian food. It’s also listed on my Top Spots page. The food here is always good, and the staff are always very friendly and extremely helpful.

This was the first time my friends had been here, so it was going to be a nice treat for them, as always. The welcome was very friendly, and we were promptly shown to our table. The staff tonight couldn’t have been more helpful. They were amazing.

The Food

King Prawn Butterfly £9.95
A selected king prawn coated with spices and deep-fried

The last time I was here was a while ago, and I ordered this dish and absolutely loved it. So tonight, I had to order it again because I had promised myself that I would 100% order it again. I wanted to see if it was still as good as it was the first time I had it.

On arrival, the presentation was very nice, and the aroma was delightful. From memory, last time I squeezed a bit of lemon over the king prawns, which really helped bring out the flavours.

Just like last time, this dish was amazing. The prawns were cooked to perfection, the batter was lovely, and every bite was full of flavour and absolutely delicious.

It’s a dish I highly recommend if you come to Charcoals.

Kofta Curry £15.95
Kofta is a family of meatball dishes famous in India, Pakistan & Bangladesh, consisting of balls of minced or ground meat.

Another dish I haven’t had here for a long time was the Kofta Curry. I remember loving it, so I had to try it again tonight. Yes, I know I usually try to order something new, but tonight I wanted to revisit a dish I’ve enjoyed in the past.

On arrival, the presentation was just as nice as last time, and the aroma was equally enticing. It made my mouth water.

I plated this curry with some rice and dug right in. The meatballs were perfectly cooked, with lovely flavours coming from them and the sauce. This was another fantastic dish. You could taste every individual flavour, and the combination of all the flavours together created an amazing bite every single time. If you’re a fan of meatballs or curries, you should definitely try this.

You’re going to absolutely love it. Highly recommended.

Final Thoughts…

Tonight was a really good night, and it was also a very good day for my friends who saw parts of Scotland. When we got to Charcoals, we all had a really nice time, with good laughs and good food.

Charcoals is one of my favourite Indian restaurants, and it’s on my Top Spots page. If you haven’t checked it out, do take a visit and let me know what you order and what you think.
