12 days of Christmas with a cooking twist

Go Eco BakeChef is a wood-burning stove from Charlton & Jenrick – a stove and fire manufacture based in Telford, Shropshire. They introduced this stove in 2022 to extend their wood-burning stove offering for those who embrace the off-grid life or who simply want to do some of their cooking by wood.

The team at Charlton & Jenrick wanted to do something festive, fun and a little different to illustrate the cooking potential of the BakeChef. The range of things you can prepare on this stove is quite amazing  – despite some people thinking cooking by wood is difficult and restrictive.

Over the space of several weeks the team at Charlton & Jenrick drew on their culinary expertise and came up with a plan. They decided on their very own take on the well know song, The Twelve Days of Christmas.

There was not just one cook, but several dedicated members of staff got together to share the cooking and recipe ideas! The idea of the twelve days of Christmas (Go Eco BakeChef edition) was to make twelve separate dishes, to fit with the twelve days song.

What started as an idea with the Marketing team in the summer soon expanded across the business with a constant supply of ideas, suggestions and offers of help coming in thick and fast.

“We wanted to do something a little different. Making it fun for the team but also demonstrating the range of delicious things you can prepare on a Go Eco BakeChef stove. You don’t need to be an expert chef or experienced with cooking by wood. You simply need some patience and creative thought!”

Dane Beckett – Marketing Director, Charlton & Jenrick.

The cooking took place on Fridays – where there were no shortage of staff wanting to volunteer as food tasters! To complement this project tjhey have also made a cookbook for all the dishes – which can be viewed here.
