The Event

After enjoying last month’s Rum Club event immensely, I couldn’t contain my excitement about attending the next one. The experience brought back fond memories of the enjoyable gatherings I used to frequent years ago.
This evening’s Rum Experience featured the esteemed Dave Marsland, who is affiliated with Chairman’s Reserve, a brand I had heard of and likely sampled, though it had been quite some time.
Furthermore, the change in venue added a layer of novelty to the evening, as it was hosted at Table 28 in Merchant City.
Stepping inside this location for the first time, I was instantly drawn to its cosy ambience, which set the perfect tone for the evening. As a bonus, I couldn’t resist taking a sneak peek at their menu, and I must say, their culinary offerings appeared enticing. It’s safe to say I’ll be returning soon to indulge in their delectable offerings.
The Event

Upon entering, we were warmly greeted with a delightful cocktail crafted from the evening’s featured rum. I must admit, it was not only exceptionally delicious but also incredibly smooth and, dare I say, irresistibly moreish.
Once we were all comfortably seated, Dave took the floor and began his introduction, providing us with intriguing insights into the Chairman’s Reserve and the distinctive characteristics of each rum he had prepared for us. Our tasting journey commenced with the original blend, followed by the Forgotten Casks edition, then the captivating Spiced Rum, and, as a fitting finale, the remarkable 1931.
To be entirely candid, I was absolutely thrilled that the evening concluded with the 1931. It instantly became my favourite, closely followed by the Spiced variety, then the original, and the Forgotten Cask.
Without a doubt, both the 1931 and the Spiced version have earned a well-deserved spot on my shopping list.
Overall
In summary, much like the previous rum event, this one proved to be exceptionally enjoyable. Dave, our charismatic host, brought a delightful sense of humour to the evening, adding to the overall experience. The array of rums on display offered distinct and tantalizing flavour profiles, ensuring a memorable tasting journey for all.
The collective sentiment among attendees was one of genuine satisfaction, and I can confidently express on behalf of everyone present that we eagerly anticipate the next instalment.
If you have even a passing interest in rum, I wholeheartedly recommend clicking the link provided at the beginning of this review on Eventbrite and securing your ticket.
The cost is exceptionally reasonable, the event typically spans a duration of approximately two to two and a half hours, and you can look forward to expanding your knowledge and, quite possibly, indulging in entirely new and exciting rum experiences.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to embark on a flavorful adventure!
