Visit & Vibes

My last visit here was in 2017, a while ago.

I couldn’t remember if I liked it, loved it or hated it and yes I could have checked my old review but it’s always nice to go back with fresh eyes and see how places are now.

Today was a lovely day and it was a lovely drive here.

Inside hadn’t changed too much since my last visit, it was still traditional but had a nice style and atmosphere.

The Food

We sat down and were given the menu….oh ok this was a good start.

The menu had changed and from what I could see for the better, there were a lot more and better options.

SLOW-ROASTED TOMATO ARANCINI (VE) £6.75
on a roasted beetroot & balsamic purée with basil pesto.

We got a few starters today, but my starter was this as I love arancini and have had some really good ones recently.

The presentation was ok, and the aroma was ok too so it was now time to dig in and check them out.

The coating was excellent and was the perfect crispness, the arancini was perfectly cooked but it did lack a little in flavour.

CRISPY BUTTERMILK CHICKEN BURGER £15.95
Tender fried chicken with chipotle chilli jam, mayo and a southern-fried onion nest 1174kcal. Swap to grilled chicken breast 

This sounded very good from the description, so I was looking forward to this.

On arrival, this looked ok, and the presentation was good.

The chips were perfectly cooked and also didn’t require any salting.

Now it was time to taste the burger…

I took a bite and ok…I noticed that the chicken burger only filled about half the bun, which you can see in the photo.

Flavourwise it was again just ok, it was cooked nicely, and had an ok amount of chilli jam which helped with its flavour.

Overall it was ok, nothing amazing but just ok.

Final Thoughts…

Looking around there were an ok amount of people in tonight, which was nice to see. The service was good when we got it, but it was very slow and I think it was the same for everyone else…..possibly just not enough staff today.

Overall with regards to the food, a little disappointed as I was hoping this would be good but it was just ok.
