The Radhuni Indian Restaurant (Loanhead, Scotland) 2022 : Review

The Visit

The guys over at The Radhuni invited me over to try the NEW Special Banquet Menu, so I said yes and set the date and took a visit.

The NEW menu is amazing value and consists of a 3 course at £14.95 per person and is available every Sunday 2pm till 10pm.

The Inside

Ok so at the top you saw the outside photo, your thought was probably like mine…its going to be tiny inside max 8 tables….nope how wrong I was and I think everyone is.

Its massive inside and the décor is lovely! as you can see from the above photos.

They also have an outside garden area but not open yet due to weather, and they also do Shisha but due to covid restrictions that will be starting later so keep watching their website or ask inside for details.

The Dinner

Today I was with my friend, so we ordered items that we both could try, and it gave me more photos to show you what the food was like.

Starters

Sabzi Pakora
Deep-fried balls of gram flour, onions, mixed vegetables and a variety of spices, served with a special sauce.

I am a big pakora fan so this was a must to order.

On arrival, the presentation was very nice, and the looked and smelled very good….time to taste and see.

These were very nice pakora, they had a nice thin crispy batter and had a lovely taste to them. They were not as light as I have had before, but they were really nice.

The dip was also very nice and it worked very well with the flavours of the pakora.

Chicken Puri
Small pieces of chicken in a subtle sauce, enhanced by fresh coriander on a bed of puffed, fried bread and accompanied by a green salad.

My friend ordered this, but I had a taste of the chicken and sauce and also the fried bread.

The sauce was packed with flavour, the chicken was mega tender and the whole bite with the bread worked really good.

For me, this was the winning starter but that’s a personal taste thing.

On my next visit, I will be getting this again, and maybe another starter to try.

Mains

Next, as you saw from the menu we had to order 3 mains, so I opted for Chicken Korma my friend went with Murgh Mango and the joint one was the Methi Gosht.

The below title is the visual order of the dishes so you know what they look like.

Murgh Mango, Chicken Korma and Methi Gosht

As soon as this arrived on the table Chris and I were hit with amazing aromas and it visually all looked really good.

As I said at the start of this, value for money is amazing!

Now it’s time to taste the Currys.

Murgh Mango
Chicken tikka cooked with mango, onion, garlic, fresh coriander and mild spices, finished with fresh cream and almonds.

I started with this even though the one I ordered was the Korma.

This was really nice, I could take the spices, and garlic and really loved the flavour. The chicken was nice and tender and the curry plus rice worked perfectly.

I would have loved to have a little more mango coming through but that’s a personal thing.

Methi Gosht
Lamb cooked with fenugreek, fragrant herbs and spices to give a delicious medium-hot flavour.

As you’ve read this was a joint option, so now it was time to taste.

Oh…this again was very nice, I got a lot of the spices coming through and the lamb was cooked well.

Flavour-wise I really liked this and just like the one above it worked very well with the rice.

Badami Korma (Chicken or Lamb)
A mild, delicate sauce of natural yoghurt, cream, almonds, coconuts, fresh herbs and spices.

This was my option, and I always judge a place on the Korma to start with the second visit I check out a few other dishes.

I have had very bad Korma’s and only a few really good ones….so what about this one?

I took a taste of the sauce on its own and ohh this was so good! I could taste the nice creamy flavours and also a nice good coconut flavour! now to test the chicken…just as I expected it was mega tender and it was a great choice!

This is one of the best Kormas I have had!!

Naan Bread

We ordered both rice and naan for the main, so I could try a bit of both.

This was a very nice naan, it was extremely light and had a lovely flavour and nice texture.

It worked really good with every curry today.

Visit Overall

Firstly a massive thank you to the guys at The Radhuni for the invite, and the great meal.

I was really impressed with todays visit, from the size of the restaurant, décor and the quality of the food and value for money from this new Sunday menu.

I am adding here to my Top Spots to visit! and highly recommend you check out this NEW menu and the Radhuni on Sundays…or for their main menu during the week.
