I have never been to Edinburgh so much in one year than I have this year and guess what I am back again to review an Indian restaurant.
The guys at Zest were really nice to invite me to come and try a few dishes from their menu, which I kindly accepted and added the date to my calendar.
I took the bus from Glasgow bus station to Edinburgh this time, as the last time I took the train which is mega costly…this time the bus was £10 return which is really good…..so you have no excuse not to come to Edinburgh to try this place or the other places I have reviewed.
First Impression :
On entering I was greeted by the staff and asked where I would like to sit, I told them wherever and they showed me to a window seat so I could enjoy the view while eating.
The atmosphere tonight was very nice, as it wasn’t too busy when I went in, but gradually did get busier….plus they do have music playing in the background but at a nice level it’s not overpowering or disturbing your chats at the table.
Time to look at the menu…
As always the prices in Edinburgh are always that little bit more than Glasgow, but you are looking at about £1 to £3 max so it’s not too much more.
The menu here looked really good, and price wise good too. There were so many dishes I wanted to try, but I selected a starter and a main.
The Food…
The manager? owner? came over to the table and introduced himself and suggested rather than I order a starter and a main he would bring a sample of the starters and a few curries to try……this sounded perfect as I was a hungry boy.
Starter Sample
Normally I can tell you what the dish name is and its cost, but since this was a sample of a few starters that is a little harder.
On the plate was: Vegetable Pakora, Chicken Pakora, Lamb and Chicken Tikka
I am not just saying this but the Vegetable and Chicken Pakora was really!!!! good! and the Lamb was so so tender it was cooked to perfection.
I am very impressed with this starter, as I was only going to select the Vegetable Pakora so it was great that I got to try more.

Main Course
WOW, so our table was very full of food once all this arrived.
So we were brought four dishes, and they all looked good. The above photo shows all for together, and individually so you can see them better.
Dish 1 : Matar Paneer
If you have had Saag Paneer before then this is very similar, and just as nice and so easy to eat. It was cooked perfectly and had a really nice taste.
Dish 2 : A Lamb dish (can’t remember its exact name)
Just like the starter the lamb in this curry was so so tender, again cooked to perfection and the best Lamb dish I have had!
Dish 3 : P297 Special
This is a chicken dish, and again just like the starter the chicken was perfectly cooked!
Dish 4: Salmon Country Captain
The salmon just broke up, and the flavours mmmm I am getting hungry just typing this.
And there was more…
I was also given some rice and a Pashwari Naan (my fav)
This is my favourite naan, as I have a sweet tooth and this is a sweet naan.
The bread was nice and thin, yet just crispy enough and the filling very sweet so it was perfect for me.
I could have easily had more of this 🙂

Firstly I would like to thank Zest for my invite, and all the really good food.
I would also like to say as always just because I got an invite, the review you just read is 100% my own thoughts and 100% honest.
Overall I am glad I got to come to Zest, I had a really good meal and a very relaxing evening.
Zest will be another one from Edinburgh, that I will be adding to my top spots so do check them out.
Thanks guys and see you soon 🙂
