Dhamakaa (East Kilbride) 2026 : Review

Visit & Vibes

So, I was here a few months back after the guys invited me along to come and check the place out.

Tonight I happened to be in the area and remembered they were here, so I thought, why not go in and see how things are now and whether it’s still as good as it was when I last visited.

The Food

Menu Choice★★★★★

GOL GAPPE £3.75
Crispy semolina shells filled with spiced potatoes and chickpeas, served with tangy, chilled tamarind water. A burst of sweet, spicy and sour delight in every bite.

I ordered this dish the last time because I absolutely love it. It has all the textures, all the flavours, and it’s just a really nice, easy dish to eat. It’s one of my favourites, so I had to order it again tonight.

Just like last time, the presentation was nice. Everything looked great and, more importantly, everything tasted really, really good.

If you’ve never tried this before, I definitely recommend giving it a go, you might really enjoy it. As I said, there are lots of different textures, from crispy to smooth, and a great mix of flavours ranging from sweet to spicy to sour. It’s just a really good dish and something I always enjoy.

HONEY CHILLI CHICKEN £6.25
Crispy fried choice of chicken, prawn, paneer or tofu glazed in a sweet and spicy honey-chilli sauce.

Tonight I decided to try something different, both from my last visit and from what I would normally order. I spotted this on the menu and immediately thought I had to give it a try.

When it arrived at the table, the presentation was really nice and the aroma was incredible. It smelled so good that I couldn’t wait to dig in.

I tried a piece of the chicken on its own first. It was perfectly cooked, lovely and tender, and you could really taste the sweet and spicy flavours coming through. It was absolutely delicious.

The dish did have a bit of a kick to it, but nothing too overpowering. It didn’t take away from the flavours at all, in fact, it complemented them really well. Overall, it was a fantastic dish that I really enjoyed from start to finish.

MANGO PESWARI NAAN £3.95

One of the sides I ordered tonight was the Mango Peshwari Naan. This style of naan is one of my favourites, mainly because I have a bit of a sweet tooth.

When it arrived at the table, it was a good size and looked really appetising. I couldn’t wait to try it.

The naan was perfectly cooked, soft, fluffy, and packed with a lovely sweet flavour from the mango filling. It was absolutely delicious.

This paired really well with my main dish, but it was also great to nibble on in between courses. If you enjoy a slightly sweeter naan like I do, this is definitely one I would recommend.

SEA BASS KOLIWADA £14.95
Crispy fried sea bass marinated in Mumbai’s coastal spices – tangy, crunchy and full of zest.

For tonight’s main dish, I decided to try something completely different from what I would normally order, so I opted for the Seabass Koliwada. The description immediately caught my attention, and as a big fan of seabass, it was a dish I couldn’t resist trying.

When it arrived at the table, the presentation looked fantastic, and it was served with a portion of rice which complemented the dish nicely.

You get a very good portion of seabass here, and the aroma coming from the dish was incredible. You could smell a blend of different spices, all coming together to create a wonderfully fragrant dish that made it very hard to wait before digging in.

The fish itself was perfectly cooked, beautifully flaky and tender. The coating of spices really elevated the dish, adding layers of flavour that worked perfectly with the delicate seabass. Every bite was packed with flavour and tasted absolutely amazing.

I’ve had seabass prepared in many different ways at various restaurants, but I have to say this is now probably my favourite way of enjoying it. The flavours were so good that I could easily have eaten another portion—that’s how much I enjoyed it.

If you’re a fan of fish, this is definitely a dish I would recommend trying. It’s full of flavour and a fantastic way to experience seabass.

Final Thoughts…

I’m really glad I decided to revisit here tonight. It was just as good as my first visit, and once again the food was absolutely delicious.

The standout dish for me had to be the seabass, it was full of flavour and cooked perfectly. It’s definitely a dish I’ll be ordering again on my next visit.

If you live in the area or don’t mind a short drive, I highly recommend checking this place out. The food is fantastic, the flavours are amazing, and it’s somewhere I’ll definitely be returning to again. This place has certainly earned its spot on my list of top restaurants.
