Visit & Vibes

As you may have spotted, I recently took a spontaneous day trip to Copenhagen, where I had around eight hours to explore the city and see some of the sights. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great, but that didn’t stop me from sightseeing and checking out a few food spots.

One place I stopped at for lunch was Nyhavns Færgekro. It had been on my list of things to do and see (even though I knew I wouldn’t manage to tick everything off), as I wanted to try the famous open-faced sandwich.

Inside, the restaurant was warm, cosy, and had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

Smoked Salmon Open Faced Sandwich 125kr
With smoked cheese and red onion- and capers vinaigrette on organic sourdough bread.

After looking through the menu — where so many dishes sounded amazing — I decided to go with this one, and I’m so glad I did because it was absolutely delicious.

When it arrived, the presentation was lovely, and as you can see, there was a very generous amount of salmon, which is always a win. I tried the salmon on its own first, and it was incredibly fresh and full of flavour — possibly one of the nicest I’ve ever had.

Then I tried a bit of everything together, and oh, this really hit the spot! The sourdough bread added that extra texture and flavour, while the capers gave it a lovely touch of tangy goodness.

It was so good that I could have easily ordered another one.

I highly recommend popping in here if you’re visiting — and definitely try the dish I had. Honestly, you’ll love it!

Final Thoughts…

Overall, I’m so glad I came across this place. It was cosy, the food was great, and I enjoyed every moment — from the time I stepped inside to when I headed back out into the rain to continue exploring.
