Gifted items from Punjab Pakora (2025) : Review

About Punjab Pakora

Punjab Pakora is a local, family business, based in Ayrshire. The company is run by myself, Kushal Duggal and my wife Vinita with some assistance from our children. As a little boy, I was often found helping my granny in the kitchen where I learned traditional skills and recipes used by my family. At the age of eighteen, I was invited to Dubai by my uncle to work at his Indian restaurant where I honed my culinary skills further. Having gained further experience in the family business, I became the chef to some of the wealthiest sheikhs in Dubai. I then travelled extensively in Europe and the Middle East working in top restaurants, learning and perfecting new cuisines.

The Food

The team at Punjab Pakora kindly sent me a goodie box packed with some of their tasty treats, available on their website. I first came across them on Instagram around two years ago and had meant to check them out back then—but as you’ve probably read, life got in the way. I started looking for a new home, tackled a full renovation, and now that I’ve finally settled in, I’m being a bit more mindful of my spending and not going out as much.

That said, I’ve always loved pakora whenever I eat out. I usually go for vegetable or chicken pakora, so I was genuinely excited to see what Punjab Pakora had sent me—and, of course, to finally try it. I had a feeling it would be something special.

Haggis Pakora

The first item I tried from Punjab Pakora was their Haggis Pakora. I do enjoy a haggis pakora now and then—sometimes they’re just okay, and sometimes they’re really good. So I was genuinely looking forward to seeing how these guys did it.

It was super quick to cook, so I didn’t have to wait long before digging in.

From the very first bite, I was impressed. Whatever haggis they’re using, it’s seriously good quality—flavourful, with a subtle little kick, and a lovely texture. Then I tried it with the dip that came in the box… wow. That dip took the whole thing to another level. It really brought everything together and elevated the flavours beautifully.

Even on its own, the haggis pakora was packed with flavour—I could easily have gone through another couple of boxes, especially with that sauce. It was that moreish.

If you’re a fan of haggis pakora, you need to check this out. It’s quick and easy to make, ready in minutes, and perfect as a snack or even as a starter for your next meal.

Spiced Onions

Alongside the Haggis Pakora, I also tried the Spiced Onions.

I’ll be honest—I’m 50/50 when it comes to spiced onions. I really have to be in the mood for them. But I wanted to give these a go alongside the haggis pakora and see how they held up.

And you know what? These were really good. I was pleasantly surprised. The onion flavour wasn’t overpowering at all, which suited my palate perfectly. Everything was really well balanced, and the sauce they came with added a lovely touch—it all just worked so well together.

In fact, while I was waiting for the haggis pakora to finish cooking, I’d already eaten half the tub because I kept going back for more… and more… and more.

Another fantastic product from the team at Punjab Pakora. They make a great side—or, if you’re cheeky like me, perfect on their own, straight out of the tub with a spoon.

Cauliflower Bites

The next item I tried from Punjab Pakora was their Cauliflower Bites.

I’ll start by saying I’m not the biggest fan of cauliflower to begin with, so I went into this one knowing it might not be my favourite. That said, once cooked, the batter was lovely and crispy, and the overall flavour was actually really nice. What really helped, though, was dipping them into the sauce that came with it—it brought everything together and made the bites much more enjoyable for me.

As I mentioned, cauliflower just isn’t something I naturally gravitate toward, so for me, this one was just okay. But if you do enjoy cauliflower, I think you’ll really like these—and probably find yourself going back for more.

Chicken Pakora Strips

The last item I tried from Punjab Pakora was their Chicken Pakora Strips. I always enjoy chicken pakora when I’m out at restaurants or getting a takeaway, so I was really looking forward to trying these.

Once they were cooked, I tasted the chicken on its own first—and I was glad to see I’d cooked it perfectly. The chicken was lovely and tender, and the batter had a great crispness to it. The overall flavour was spot on. Then I tried it with the accompanying sauce, and once again, it took everything to the next level. That sauce is just so good—I thoroughly enjoyed every bite from start to finish.

This was another one I could have easily gone back for more of. If you’re a fan of chicken pakora, you definitely need to try this one.

Final Thoughts…

First off, a big thank you to the team at Punjab Pakora for sending me all these treats—they were all packed with flavour! The standout winners for me were definitely the Haggis Pakora and the Chicken Pakora Strips. I could’ve easily gone back for more (and more) of both!

As I mentioned throughout the review, everything was super easy and quick to cook. These make great starters or the perfect addition to any meal. Honestly, there’s no reason not to give them a try—you can order directly online, and they’ll be delivered straight to your door. I’m sure you’ll enjoy them just as much as I did.

If you do place an order, let me know in the comments what you went for and what you thought—I’d love to hear!
