The Thai Bar & Restaurant (Shawlands, Glasgow) 2025

Visit & Vibes

I was recently invited to try a Thai-style restaurant. Since I rarely go out, I was really excited to check it out.

From the moment I arrived, the staff were extremely welcoming, and the restaurant was spotlessly clean with a beautifully designed interior. I knew right then that I was in for an amazing treat.

The Food

Menu Choice★★★★★

Chicken Satay £n/a tonight, normally £7.10
(3 Pieces)

I spotted many starters that I really wanted to try, but the chicken satay was the one that stood out to me tonight.

When it arrived, the presentation was really nice, and I couldn’t wait to dig in.

I tried the chicken on its own first—it was perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and incredibly tender. Then I dipped it in the peanut sauce, and wow, that took it to a whole new level.

The satay sauce was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. It was smooth, packed with flavour, and seriously addictive. I could’ve easily ordered another portion right after because it tasted that good.

If you ever visit this place and you’re a fan of chicken satay, I highly recommend giving this a try.

Thai Yellow Curry (Chicken) £n/a tonight, normally £14.80
Yellow curry in coconut milk with potatoonion and kaffir lime leaves, Served with jasmine rice.

Just like with the starters, there were many main dishes I wanted to try, but the Thai yellow curry really stood out to me tonight. I decided to go for the chicken option.

When it arrived, the presentation was excellent, and the aroma was even better—it was making my mouth water.

I started with the rice, which was perfectly cooked and had a lovely flavour. Then I tried the curry sauce—absolutely amazing. The chicken pieces were tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. Putting it all together, this was a truly fantastic dish.

In the past, I’ve usually gone for red or green Thai curries, but now Thai yellow curry has become one of my favourites—and it’s all thanks to this dish. It was packed with incredible flavours, and honestly, I could have easily had it again tonight. That’s how good it was. Highly recommended if you’ve never tried it before!

Burnt Cheesecake with Mango/Passionfruit Couli £n/a tonight, normally £8.90
This rich and creamy cheesecake is topped with a sweet and tangy couli made from mango and passionfruit.

For dessert, this was recommended to me as I’d never tried burnt cheesecake before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

When it arrived, the presentation was really nice. At first glance, it reminded me of an American-style cheesecake, so I was curious to see how different it would be.

From the very first bite, it was clear this was something special. Unlike American cheesecake, it was light, fluffy, and creamy. The flavour was excellent—super tasty and incredibly easy to eat.

Pairing it with the cream and the mango and passionfruit coulis took it to another level. The combination worked beautifully.

This was the perfect way to end a perfect meal, especially for a late-night treat. Delicious and satisfying!

Final Thoughts…

Wow—what can I say? From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The service was top-notch, and the staff were incredibly friendly—not just with me, but with everyone in the restaurant, which was really lovely to see. The place was spotless and had a great atmosphere throughout the night.

As for the food, it was outstanding. Every course was beautifully presented, the flavours were spot-on, and everything I tried was bursting with taste. Because of that, I’m adding this place to my list of top restaurants—I genuinely can’t fault a single thing about tonight. It was that good.

If you’re a fan of Thai food, I highly, highly recommend checking this place out!
