Visit & Vibes

I was recently invited to the launch of Rumi, an authentic Turkish restaurant in Glasgow city centre. I haven’t had much Turkish food in my blogging career, so I was very keen to check it out and see what they would serve us tonight.

Inside, the restaurant was nicely designed, bright, and decorated with lovely vibrant colours. The seats were very comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. We received a warm welcome with someone playing the bagpipes as we entered, and during the meal, a girl played the saxophone. All of this added to the ambience, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to be served.

The Food

A mixture of different dips

To begin with, they brought out a selection of mixed dips along with some garlic and herb bread. I’ll start by talking about the dips.

I used the bread to eat the dips, and I’ve got to say, all of them were really nice. One of them was a bit too tomato-based for me, but I’m not a big fan of tomatoes unless they’re on a pizza or something. Yep, I’m that big kid. But if you’re into tomatoes, I’m sure you’d probably love it. All of the dips were lovely and fresh, with a wonderful flavour, and I enjoyed them.

It was a good and interesting start to the evening. You could take a bite of the dip, have a good chat with your companions, and just appreciate the ambience tonight. It was really good, and I enjoyed them.

Pide with garlic & herb

As mentioned above, we were given some bread with garlic and herb butter. To be honest, I forgot to try the garlic and herb butter, but I’m sure it was super tasty. However, the bread, wow! Just looking around at how it was being served to everyone, it was massive and very puffed up.

When it arrived at my table, the aroma was incredible. This bread was very nice and paired perfectly with the dips. I could easily have eaten loads more of it tonight, that’s how good it was. I’ve even seen a few other bloggers mention how much they enjoyed it, so if you visit, definitely check it out.

Mixed grill with rice

After the mixture of dips and bread, we were served a mixed grill with rice. This smelled amazing, and as you can see, it was a generous portion size, intended for two people.

My favourite item was the one that was like a sausage, followed closely by the chicken. The herbs in the sausage-like dish were amazing—it was juicy and tender. I could have easily eaten a whole plate of it; that’s how delicious it was.

The rice was also nicely cooked.

Overall, this dish was packed with flavour, and everything was cooked perfectly. The sausage-like item stood out for me and was my favourite part of the dish.

Final Thoughts…

Overall, tonight was very enjoyable. I have to admit that I was delighted to be back in town, and having a nice meal. It had been a long time due to what’s been going on in my life, so it was nice to be back and experience the ambience of Glasgow city centre, as well as enjoy a great time in a nice restaurant. Tonight was very busy, and the staff were bringing out the food very quickly, which was impressive. If the service continues to be this good, I’m sure it will remain consistent.

A big thanks to the team for inviting me. I had a lovely time and it was great to try some Turkish food again. As I mentioned, it’s been a while since I’ve had any. I would go back and try something from their main menu. If you enjoy Turkish food, check it out when you’re in the city centre, and let me know your thoughts.
