Finally!!!
Read Part 1 …. Read Part 2 … Read Part 3
I’ve been putting in hours at my house every night and on weekends, trying to make progress with the home renovation but making sure at each point everything is done correctly and I don’t miss anything.
After applying the pre-paint coats 1 and 2, it was time to tidy up small details and start the main coat.
Unfortunately, the lack of heating in the house made the plaster take nearly 3 weeks to dry, much longer than expected.
Even after applying the main coat with straight-from-the-tin crown paint, the walls remained patchy. I couldn’t figure out if it was due to the cold or the paint being absorbed unevenly.
Frustrated, I applied additional coats, hoping to move on to other tasks like fixing squeaky floorboards.
It reached a point where I was questioning the paint quality, especially since the £70 tub didn’t seem promising.
Eventually, I switched to Dulux paint, and after a thorough application and getting the heating finally connected, the patchy areas were resolved.

Now, with just one coat, the place looks significantly better, and I can finally move forward with the renovation….wish I had just got this one earlier.
Despite there not being a rush, I’m eager to fix the floorboards and lay down plywood so I can leisurely build and witness the transformation of my space.

While moving forward was a little on hold till things dried and the heating got plumbed I moved my attention to the plugs and changed them to newer boxes but WOW the wiring was horrendous! some were not earthed and some were not even safe!

I then got my joiner to come and fit the radiators back on the walls and connect it underneath but another issue happened!!! there was a burst pipe so that had to be fixed….more delay and money.
Finally, that was fixed, the plywood was put down and heating on, and ohh this is a cosy wee house.
Before bringing the kitchen up to build it (flat packed) I just wanted to double-check everything and finish any small things so I knew that its 100% done and I was safe to move on to the next part.
Stay tuned for the next stage!
