Tonights Brand
Brockmans Gin

I got this invite and couldn’t turn it down, as I am still wanting to learn more about different Gin’s since I spent 2016 learning about Rum and Brockmans is one I haven’t tried yet.

Tonights event was being held in the West End of Glasgow, in what used to be an old Parish Church but now inside is a bar, restaurant, night club and holds many different events.

On entering I got the chance to meet with the girl that invited me, and thank her for the invite at this point I was given a little mask and told what table to go to. I walked in to the event room and was hit was amazing colours, and a tall metal structure on part of the floor.

I was then shown to my table which was right next to the main stage, at this point I was thinking “I hope there is no audience participation”….luckly there wasn’t….

I noticed something at every table, there was a big button that had the text on it “Press for Gin”, this was cool as if the table wanted the next round of drinks they just pressed the button and the waiter would come over and give us Gin…..I could do with one of these in my house!!!

Lets start with the food then I will move on to the cocktails.

The Food :

Orange & fennel cured salmon, creme fraiche, black wafer cone

This was very interesting, I have never had a black wafer cone….to be honest it didn’t taste that much different to others. Overall this was just ok for me, the creme fraiche stood out for me more than the salmon.

Smoked duck breast with Brockmans blackberry gel on egg crepe

This was my favourite dish of the night, for me the taste was perfect and every mouthful.

Juniper cluster venison, celeriac slaw, potato rosti

This was a nice dish, I am not a massive fan of venison but the flavours were very flowery and it was perfectly cooked.

Goats cheese mousse with beetroot, coriander & lemon

This was nice after everything we had, as it was like a cleanser very nice and smooth and fully of flavour.

Brockmans Gin ice cream, meringue & blueberry bubble

To end the night we got some ice cream, a perfect end to the night.

The Cocktails :

The Perfect Serve
Brockmans Gin, Fever Tree tonic, blueberries, pink grapefruit

Coastal Collins
Brockmans Gin, fino Sherry, seabucjthorn tea, seaweed infused coastal bitters

Black & Gold
Brockmans Gin, Drambuie, heather honey, pineapple

This was my favourite as it was very sweet, and I wish I could have had a few more of these.

Glasgow Calling
Brockmans Gin, sweet vermouth, fino sherry, lemon, bitters, Buckfast

During the food we were treated to Tony Bowen who sang and played the guitar for us.

Tony was very good, and played a good variety of songs. He asked everyone to tweet him suggestions, and he managed to get everyones suggestions in throughout the night.

Just before the end of the night, we had another performer that was showing off his aerial skills

This was very cool to see, the lighting, costume and also Tony playing in the background “Sweet dreams are made of this”  was all a perfect setting and made it that much cooler to watch.

The event tonight was perfect from start to end, I learned about a new Gin and 2 new cocktails with Brockmans Gin that I would love to have again.

I can now say I am slowly starting to enjoy Gin, nearly as much as rum and I look forward to trying more Gin but for now I will enjoy a nice Brockmans Gin.

I would like to say a big thank you for my invite to tonights event, I really enjoyed and enjoyed the gin. 🙂
