Gifted items from Punjab Pakora (2026) : Review

About Punjab Pakora

Punjab Pakora is a local, family business, based in Ayrshire. The company is run by myself, Kushal Duggal and my wife Vinita with some assistance from our children. As a little boy, I was often found helping my granny in the kitchen where I learned traditional skills and recipes used by my family. At the age of eighteen, I was invited to Dubai by my uncle to work at his Indian restaurant where I honed my culinary skills further. Having gained further experience in the family business, I became the chef to some of the wealthiest sheikhs in Dubai. I then travelled extensively in Europe and the Middle East working in top restaurants, learning and perfecting new cuisines.

The Food

The guys at Punjab Pakora surprised me with a little delivery. The last time they gifted me some items, I really enjoyed everything they sent — it was all packed with great flavour.

So this time around, I had no idea what they were sending, and since I love surprises, I couldn’t wait to open the package.

Pujab Pakora Square Sausage Bites
Deliciously Seasoned Beef Lorne Sausage Bites with a Spicy Chilli Dip

Started things off with the Pujab Pakora Square Sausage Bites and honestly… what a way to begin.

Deliciously seasoned beef Lorne sausage bites, served with a spicy chilli dip — and you already know I had to try these first because I love a square sausage. For me, square sausages are simply the best. Always have been!

They’re super easy and quick to cook too, around 15 minutes in the oven and they’re done. Perfect for when you want something tasty without waiting forever.

Taste-wise? Really good. The beef Lorne flavour comes through nicely, well seasoned, and that chilli dip adds a nice little kick. I actually preferred them without the dip — just the pure square sausage flavour for me — but both ways work depending on your mood.

Definitely one for the square sausage fans.

No.19 CHICKEN TIKKA CHASNI
WITH PILAU RICE

I’m going to be honest, this one really took me by surprise. Most ready meals like this are just okay, and the flavour can often be bland or average. But this one genuinely impressed me with how good it was.

The cooking instructions are very simple, just follow what’s written on the back and plate it up once it’s ready. While it was cooking, the aroma was absolutely lovely, and that’s when I really started looking forward to trying it.

After plating up and taking my photos for the review, I finally tucked in, and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. I’m not just saying that. The flavour of the Chicken Tikka Masala was incredible, and the chicken itself was beautifully tender.

Paired with the pilau rice, it made for a really tasty meal. It’s the perfect size to pop in the oven when you get home from work and don’t want to wait too long for something to cook, especially when you’re craving a proper Indian dish that actually delivers on flavour. As I mentioned, that’s not always the case with ready meals.

This genuinely surprised me, and I really enjoyed it. If you’re a fan of Chicken Tikka Masala, you definitely need to check this one out.

No. 28 SOUTH INDIAN GARLIC CHILLI CHICKEN
WITH PILAU RICE

Saving this one until last was no accident. Out of the range, the South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken with Pilau Rice but what caught my eye, was the three chilli ratings on the packaging. If you know me, you’ll know I’m not the best when it comes to spice, so I’ll admit I was slightly cautious going in. But curiosity (and my love for bold flavours) got the better of me, and I had to give it a try.

As it heated up, the aroma was incredible. The garlic really comes through first, followed by that warm, rich scent of chilli and spices that instantly tells you this is going to have a kick. The pilau rice fluffed up beautifully and paired well visually with the vibrant, deep-coloured sauce coating the chicken.

Now, honesty time, it was a little too spicy for my personal spice tolerance. The heat definitely builds, and those three chillies are not just for show. However, what impressed me most was that the spice didn’t overpower the flavour. Beneath that heat was a delicious sauce packed with garlicky depth, warmth and a lovely South Indian-inspired flavours.

The chicken was tender, the rice complemented the dish well, and overall it felt like a proper, flavour-packed meal.

If you’re someone who enjoys a good level of heat, this will be right up your street. For me, slightly fiery, but still very tasty.
