CRAB & LOBSTER FISH SHACK, & JACK ‘O’ BRYAN’S, HANDS OVER £2537 TO MISSION CHRISTMAS AS CHARITY GOES ALL OUT TO COVER DONATION REQUESTS

The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack in South Queensferry, together with its sister business, Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s Bar & Kitchen in Dunfermline, has handed over a fantastic cheque donation of £2537 to Mission Christmas Cash for Kids, the Forth One charity providing Christmas Gifts to disadvantaged children all over Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk.

The two award winning restaurants, run by the Coghill family, appointed Cash for Kids as their designated charity for 2025.  Following the launch of The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack, back in June, an initial cheque for £450 was handed over, donated from guests at the soft launch. Since then, customers at both restaurants have been asked if they are happy to have a small donation to the charity, included on their bill.

“We are really pleased to hand over this latest donation to Mission Christmas,” said owner, Bryan Coghill. “It’s a brilliant amount, which will really make a difference as Mission Christmas goes into its final week of buying and distributing gifts. We know that many people hand in wrapped parcels to the various distribution centres all over the area, which are the donated to those who have requested help. There’s always a shortfall though, with Mission Christmas having to buy other age-appropriate gifts to make sure that no one goes without.”

Bryan explained that the Charity had told him they had a record amount of requests this year, with families really struggling.

“They have had more than ever, so hopefully this money will help towards that. There comes a point when they just have to get the gifts out, and that in itself is a huge distribution job.”

“We would like to thank all our customers who have agreed to donate,” continued Bryan. “It’s a small amount that really adds up. We really appreciate their continuing support. One of the things we wanted to support under the Cash for Kids banner, is the Holiday Hunger initiative which particularly appeals to us being a restaurant group. This helps disadvantage groups stay well fed when the schools are on holiday, whether it’s in the Summer, Easter, or Christmas. Children can really miss out because their family circumstances are such that they’re just not able to access the meals that they get when the schools are open.”

Bryan finished by wishing all his customers a very Merry Christmas.

“We’ve launched our takeout menu at Crab & Lobster, it’s up and running now. Hopefully it helps customers out over the festive period when perhaps unexpected guests turn up. We’d like to thank our hard-working staff at both restaurants.  They make it all possible for us to keep delighting our customers, whether it’s the finest fish & chips, or delicious Iberian inspired cuisine.”

“It’s the time of the year for comfort food so we look forward to welcoming you.”

Alex Wilson, Corporate Fundraising Executive for Cash for Kids, said: “We are very grateful indeed for this incredible donation from these two popular restaurants. It comes at a critical time for us as we push to fulfil all our pledges of help. We simply could not do what we do without support like this.”
