Visit & Vibes
I was recently invited to the grand opening of Laz Italian in Glasgow, and I couldn’t wait to check it out since I love discovering new places to visit.

Upon entering, I noticed how beautifully the place had been done up. It has a modern look with a cosy atmosphere, and all the staff were incredibly welcoming that evening.

MOVIESTAR MARTINI £5.95
PINEAPPLE, PASSIONFRUIT, VANILLA, GRENADINE & LIME

While I was browsing the menu, I decided to start my evening with a drink. The drinks menu is extensive, so there’s something for everyone, and they also offer a wide variety of non-alcoholic cocktails, which was perfect since I was driving that night.
I opted for the Movie Star Martini, a twist on the classic Porn Star Martini.
When it arrived, it came with a little shot, which was filled with lemonade, alongside the cocktail itself, which looked fantastic.
Taking my first sip, the cocktail was refreshing with a lovely flavour, making it a great start to the night. I enjoyed it from start to finish, and I especially appreciated the good selection of non-alcoholic options.

CALAMARI RINGS £8.45
Fresh calamari breaded and fried until golden with tartar sauce and lemon.

It was a tough decision to choose a starter, as several items on the menu caught my eye. I eventually settled on the calamari rings.
When they arrived, the presentation was lovely, and the portion size was generous for a starter. The aroma was fantastic, and I couldn’t wait to dig in.
With the first bite, I could tell the calamari was perfectly cooked—not rubbery or chewy. The fried breadcrumbs on the outside were wonderfully crispy and full of flavour, both on their own and when paired with the lemon and tartar sauce.
I thoroughly enjoyed this dish from start to finish, and if you’re a fan of calamari, I highly recommend trying it. It was delicious, and I could easily order it again.

PENNE CON SALMONE £15.95
Pan-fried salmon, garlic, onion, broccoli, white wine and a touch of pesto.

For my main course, it was once again a tough decision, as many dishes on the menu caught my eye. I eventually chose the Penne con Salmone.
When it arrived, the presentation was appealing, and the aroma was fantastic. I could smell the salmon and a hint of pesto.
As I dug in, I found the pasta perfectly cooked, as was the salmon. Each bite allowed me to taste the distinct flavours of each ingredient, and together, they made for an absolutely delightful dish. The portion size was generous, and it’s definitely a dish I would highly recommend. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite from start to finish.

TIRAMISU £7.95
Italian layered coffee and cream cake. (+ vanilla ice cream for £1.50)

For dessert, I opted for the tiramisu, as I always like to see how different restaurants make it. I learned it was homemade, so I was really looking forward to trying it.
When it arrived, the presentation was lovely, and from the first bite, it was pure bliss. This tiramisu now ranks in my top two; I’ve only found one other restaurant that does it this well, and here it’s just as good.
Although this dessert wasn’t included in the invite, I thought it was excellent value for money. It was so delicious, I could’ve easily had another slice—that’s how good it was! If you’re a tiramisu lover, you absolutely need to try it.

VIRGIN PINA COLADA £5.95
PINEAPPLE, COCONUT, CREAM & LIME.

Another mocktail I ordered was the Virgin Piña Colada. When it arrived, it looked great, and I couldn’t wait to try it.
It was amazing and incredibly addictive—that’s how good it was! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second one, which I gladly paid for. For the price, it was an absolute steal. If I hadn’t been so full from all the food, I probably would have had a third.
I highly recommend this, whether you’re driving or not. It’s absolutely refreshing and seriously addictive.
