I was recently invited to the Corona Bar in Shawlands for brunch.

Having visited before and enjoyed my experience, I was excited to try their new brunch menu. I also discovered that they offer a Sunday roast menu, so if you’re a fan of Sunday roasts, it’s worth checking out.

The interior is lovely, with plenty of seating options and a large bar. As you look around, you’ll notice lots of little surprises that add to the charm.

Today, I had a great view of the space from where I was seated. It was slightly busy, which created a lively and pleasant atmosphere.

On today’s visit, I checked out their new brunch menu, which had a great selection. One particular dish caught my eye, so I had to try it and see how it tasted.

When the dish arrived, the presentation was intriguing. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but I was eager to see how it would taste.

The aroma was inviting, and I couldn’t wait to dig in. 

At first, I got some nice flavours, but it wasn’t until I had more of the lamb mixed with everything else that the dish really came alive.

Once all the elements were combined, every bite was full of rich flavour. I especially loved the subtle hint of lime that came through at the end, which balanced the flavours beautifully.

Overall, this was a very tasty dish. While each component was nice on its own, the magic happened when everything was combined—it packed a flavorful punch. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.

Tatties

On today’s visit, I brought along a friend, and we decided to share our sides like a set of small plates between us.

We chose the “tatties,” which you can customize with different types of fries style, spices, sauces, and toppings. For today, we went with a combination that caught our eye.

I started with the fries, which were well-cooked and had a lovely seasoning. When mixed together, each bite was quite enjoyable.

The only downside was that the fries weren’t as warm as I would’ve liked, and my friend felt the same.

Overall, it was a nice side dish, and we both enjoyed it despite that minor issue.

Belgian waffles
caramelised banana & biscoff

I couldn’t leave without trying one of their desserts.

They offer Belgian waffles with various toppings, and I chose the caramelized banana and Biscoff.

When it arrived, the portion was generous, and the aroma was incredible—especially since I’m a big Biscoff fan.

After taking a bite of everything together, it was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed it from start to finish.

Honestly, I could have gone for another helping! You know my sweet tooth by now. On my next visit, I’ll definitely be having this again or trying one of their other options.

Final Thoughts…

First, a big thank you to the team for the invite.

From start to finish, I was made to feel very welcome, and as you’ve just read, the food was delicious.

As I mentioned, the only minor downside was that the fries weren’t as warm as I’d hoped, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here today. I’m already looking forward to returning and trying something else from their new brunch menu.
