Known for showcasing the finest food & drink from throughout the different countries of South America, El Santo Latin American bar & restaurant in Glasgow’s Merchant City, has announced that it’s celebrating the fascinating South American country of Colombia, throughout the whole of August.
A flavourful celebration of the country’s cuisine, together with delicious matched cocktails, plus El Santo’s signature live entertainment, is now underway.
Guests can look forward to a specially curated menu containing classic Colombian dishes, such as Patacones de Chancho y Hogao – crispy fried smashed plantain topped with avocado mousse, tender pork confit, and vibrant salsa criolla.
El Santo’s skilled mixologists compliment the vibrant and flavourful dishes with classic Latin American cocktails such as Margaritas (in many different varieties).
“Colombia has a fantastic food and drink heritage which we are delighted to celebrate throughout this month,” said Jonathan Doherty, El Santo’s owner.
“Colombian cuisine is certainly less well known than that of many other countries in Latin and South American, such as Mexico and Brazil, but it is well worth discovering, notable for its use of key herbs and spices, such as cilantro, parsley and chives that add real flavour. A plethora of fruit and vegetable-based sauces give dishes an additional kick.”
Jonathan finished by saying: “Our Peruvian menu is the ideal summer menu. Come and check it out, and maybe try some dishes you haven’t tried before – you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Our talented Head Chef, Juliana Kipper, has pit a great deal of work into creating this menu to ensure that every dish is as authentic as possible.”
