INVITED
13-12-2023

Visit & Vibes
The team at La Piccola, a recently opened establishment in Bothwell, extended an invitation to try their offerings.
Upon arrival, I had the choice to either enjoy a meal inside if a table was available or opt for a takeaway to savor at home. I chose the latter, allowing me to take the food home, capture better pictures indoors, and enjoy the meal with a movie.

The interior was tastefully decorated with a warm and modern design.
The staff, all very friendly, contributed to the welcoming atmosphere.
The kitchen was bustling with activity, a clear indication of the numerous invites they were handling tonight.

The Food
Pollo Pesto Pizza £n/a tonight
Fior di latte base topped with pesto chicken, sun dried tomatoes and fresh basil leaves.

I opted for the Pollo Pesto Pizza as my first choice, as I have a fondness for pesto and sun-dried tomatoes.
Upon arrival and opening the pizza box, the aroma was pleasant, and visually, the pizza appeared appealing. Now, it was time to savor the taste.
Upon taking a bite, I found the pizza base to be excellently cooked—delightfully thin and well-executed.
However, flavor-wise, it was just ok. The pesto, chicken, and sun-dried tomatoes were subtly present, without any particular element standing out strongly, in my opinion.
Overall, as I mentioned, the base was perfectly cooked, but in terms of flavor, it fell into the realm of being just okay for me.

Scozzese £n/a tonight
Stornoway black pudding, Haggis, onion and creamy Fior di Latte

When I inquired about staff favorites since they were opening the next day, one of the team members suggested the Scozzese pizza, which sounded intriguing, prompting me to give it a try.
Upon opening the box at home, the visual presentation was acceptable, and once more, there wasn’t a strong aroma.
Upon biting into it, similar to the previous pizza, the base was excellently cooked.
However, in terms of flavor, I anticipated a strong presence of black pudding and haggis, followed by other elements. Unfortunately, like the previous pizza, it fell into the “just okay” category for me.
Nothing truly stood out; everything remained on the same okay level.

Final Thoughts…
Tonight’s visit was decent overall.
The venue boasts an appealing ambiance, the staff is notably friendly, and the menu appears enticing.
However, regrettably, the two pizzas I tried were, in my opinion, merely just ok flavor-wise.
This might be attributed to potential opening night challenges, given the evident busyness.
If you find yourself in the area, consider giving them a try and share your experiences in the comments below.
Before I conclude, a heartfelt thanks to the team at La Piccola for the invitation tonight.
