After conquering the iconic crags of Ben Arthur (The Cobbler), there is no better feeling than trading hiking boots for a comfortable chair and a hearty meal. On my latest trek, I found myself pulling into The Village Inn in Arrochar, and it was exactly the sanctuary my tired legs needed.

Cheese and Bacon Burger £18.00
All burgers are served with iceberg lettuce, gherkins, burger sauce, and tomato ketchup.
The menu promises a solid pub classic: a burger served with iceberg lettuce, gherkins, burger sauce, and tomato ketchup.
The Chips, absolute highlights. They nailed the texture, perfectly crisp on the outside with a fluffy interior. They were incredibly moreish, and I found myself finishing every last one before I even touched the main event.
The burger, itself was very nice and hit the spot after a long morning on the hill. The cheese they used was excellent, and the house burger sauce was particularly good, adding a great depth of flavour that really elevated the dish.
The bacon was a bit of a disappointment. With only a single slice included, it was completely lost in the flavour profile of the burger.
For an £18 price tag, I was hoping for more impact from the bacon, as it felt overshadowed by the other great ingredients.

Final Thoughts…
The Village Inn is a fantastic spot to grab a bite with a view after a climb. While the burger was tasty, the real star of the show was those perfectly fried chips. If you’re heading up The Cobbler, it’s still well worth a visit for the atmosphere and the convenience alone.
